The Sims 4 has dozens of expansion packs, and quite a few of them are focused on different types of animals. The Sims 4's Horse Ranch expansion pack added horses, mini goats, and mini sheep to the game. And while they're all great fun to have around, it takes a lot of work to care for all of these animals.

Thankfully, it's now possible to hire a Ranch Hand in The Sims 4. This hired helper will come around and provide aid; they will help take care of the animals, lend a hand in the garden, and repair broken household objects.

How to Hire a Ranch Hand

Sims might start to feel slightly overwhelmed while managing a farm. It can be difficult to take care of several animals at the same time, especially when there are plants that need to be watered and sprayed for bugs and when household equipment keeps breaking down. A Ranch Hand is just the right solution for all of these problems - it's the perfect way to destress a Sim.

In The Sims 4, players can hire a Ranch Hand in Chestnut Ridge by interacting with a Ranch Bulletin Board, or they can select it from the Hire a Service option in the Home App on their Sim's phone.

How Ranch Hands Work

Ranch Hands work from 7 AM to 7 PM, and they come in for work every single day of the week as well as weekends. For each day that they're around, the household will have to pay the Ranch Hand 100 Simoleons, plus an extra 12 Simoleons per hour, so a Ranch Hand costs a total of 244 Simoleons per day.

There are three chores that are automatically assigned once a Ranch Hand visits the Sim's house: taking care of crops, doing repairs, and taking care of horses and any other livestock. Players can enable and disable this by interacting with the Ranch Hand and selecting the "Assign Chores" menu.

Ranch Hands will not collect manure or harvest plants unless the player selects them and deliberately asks them to. If they're told to complete these tasks, the items that have been picked up will appear in the Household Inventory tab in Build Mode.

Sims can fire a Ranch Hand by interacting with them, or they can dismiss them by opening the Home App on their phone and selecting that option.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
