The Sims 4: High School Years added tons more gameplay for teenage Sims, including a new interactive high school experience. Players can follow their Sims to school, attend classes, use the gym, and make friends. Each class increases a different Skill, and at the end of the week, they must take exams.

Exams play a role in the overall grade and progress meter; if Sims don't prepare for them, they will fail them. In addition, repeatedly failing exams makes it hard for Sims to increase their grade, which can lead to negative moodlets, failing and dropping out, or even expulsion. However, there are a few ways Sims can ensure they can take their exams stress-free and earn top-notch scores. This guide covers how to study for and pass exams in The Sims 4: High School Years.

How To Study For High School Exams

The Sims 4

At the start of a school week, students receive their class schedule, including what Skills they will be working on and what day exams take place. The interactive school day consists of morning free time, first period, lunch, and last period. Exams are every Friday, and there are two in total, one for each class period. While they will have their daily homework, just like in the base game, Sims will also receive a notebook where they keep all their notes from class.

To study for high school exams using their notebook, click on a teen Sim, a computer, or a bookshelf and find the "High School.." menu. When it opens up, select "Study for Exam." This takes Sims anywhere from thirty in-game minutes to an hour. Whenever they can't study anymore for that exam using their personal notes, the option will be grayed out. Players can do this during the school day or at home at any point.

Sims also have the option to attend the study prep that takes place after school every Wednesday in Classroom 2. This option is only available if players choose to go with their teen Sim to school. After the last bell, find the correct classroom and click on the whiteboard to participate in the study class. If players have their Sims do both kinds of studying, they will be fully prepared to take their exams.

How To Take High School Exams

The Sims 4

Exams will take place regardless if players go with their teens or if they send them alone. Sims will take them automatically if they go to school alone and will receive their results at the end of the day. If players are with their Sims, they must ensure they are in class during the exam. Courses and exams last one in-game hour, so if Sims don't make it in time, they will fail by default.

While they should automatically start the exam, Sims can sometimes be difficult and get up to do something else. If this happens, click on the whiteboard and select "Take Exam." Players will see the results when they finish and can check their overall grade from the Job tab at the bottom right side of the screen.

The Sims 4: High School Years is now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
