The Sims 4 has unveiled its next expansion pack that will focus on various aspects of teenage life, both in school and outside of the classroom. Details on The Sims 4's 12th expansion pack have been revealed through a new YouTube trailer along with the main page on EA's website.

The Sims 4 was originally released back in 2014, making it the longest-running title in the iconic Sims series developed by Maxis. The Sims is a tremendously popular series of life sims due to the depth of its customization and the way it allows players to live vicariously through their sims. Rather than launching The Sims 5 after the typical four-to-five year run of a Sims game, Maxis has opted to continue building upon The Sims 4 with dozens of expansion packs and game packs that add things such as pet cats and dogs, Star Wars-themed destinations, and the latest Werewolves game pack.

The new trailer for The Sims 4: High School Years shows a huge variety of activities that teenage sims can engage in throughout their daily lives, such as attending class at Copperdale High School and having lunch in the cafeteria while socializing with other students. Much like real high school, sims are seen proposing romantic relationships and even sneaking out of the house at night. Outside of class, teenage sims are shown taking selfies in front of various landmarks around town, engaging in social media, and going into photo booths at an amusement park. As far as The Sims 4 DLC content goes, High School Years seems to bring a lot to the table.

Many more details about the upcoming The Sims 4 expansion pack are laid out on EA's website. Students can take on extracurricular activities such as computer club or cheerleading and can compete in football and chess, while roguish teens can pull pranks like leaving stink bombs in lockers which will raise their mischief skill. The prom and graduation experience is also detailed, with players able to attend prom solo, with friends, with a date, or not at all. Sims will need sufficient grades to be invited to graduation and can plan out their outfits and give farewell gifts to teachers.

After eight years, The Sims 4 shows no signs of slowing down when it comes to adding new content. Although fans are eager for EA and Maxis to announce the inevitable The Sims 5, there will likely be a few more game packs and expansions to keep players busy in the meantime.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S.
