It wasn't until The Sims 2 when players were able to care for newborn babies and watch them grow up into toddlers, children, teens, and so on.RELATED: Sims 4 Growing Together Will Only Have 12 Playable LotsLongtime Sims players would know that one could have a baby either by getting pregnant after a WooHoo, or contacting an adoption service in the game to get a random kid. But in the upcoming The Sims 4 Growing Together expansion pack, players will reportedly be given the option to adopt existing children. In a photo tweeted by The Sims 4 producer Dave Miotke, he showed a series of actions, like "Adopt Channing," available when players click on a baby. Adult Sims will also receive an adoption certificate once the action is completed. This new feature will not only make the process in the game quicker, but also allow them to choose the child they want to adopt.

Many The Sims 4 players on social media seem excited about the feature, with some pointing out that stepparents could potentially adopt their step-kids now. A number of them also asked if this meant that Sims could adopt any kid they encounter, with one saying that they'll be careful about clicking on someone's kid and accidentally adopting them.

As The Sims continues to grow, developer Maxis has been making an effort to make the game more relatable to its player base, from highlighting different body types to household clutter. The new adoption feature in Growing Together will touch many players' hearts.

Growing Together might be the final expansion pack for The Sims 4 before Maxis moves on with its next game. With The Sims 5 or Project Rene already being teased and playtested, many players seem excited for all the new things coming to the franchise, and whether previous features will be carried over and improved. While waiting for the official release of The Sims 5, fans can continue playing The Sims 4 and its many expansion packs.

The Sims 4 is available now for Mac, PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
