The Sims 4: Get Famous is a new installment in The Sims 4 franchise. It offers players the chance to experience the glitz and glamour of celebrity life and become a star in the Sim world. Players can create their own celebrity persona thanks to the celebrity perks and quirks, attend celebrity exclusive events, and take part in all the drama and excitement that comes with being a celebrity. The expansion pack also introduces a new career, a new world, and some other additions that align well with the theme of the pack.

Regarding the core features, The Sims 4: Get Famous is similar to The Sims: Superstar, The Sims 3: Late Night, and The Sims 3: Showtime, as fame and reputation are the newest big feature offered within this pack. Although the pack doesn't offer much over this aspect, it is still a favorite among fans who enjoy rags-to-riches style playthroughs, as the addition of becoming a 5-star celebrity can bring an extra challenge. However, it is not the most immersive or realistic experience that can suit all Sims' lifestyles, unlike the previous expansion, Seasons. Nevertheless, it can still be a fun pack to experience.

Fame and Reputation

The Sims 4 Fame and Reputation Perks

The Sims 4 Get Famous introduces a new fame system, allowing Sims to become famous and renowned by pursuing a career such as acting or honing their skills in writing, painting, and more. They can also gain fame by making celebrity friends, interacting with fans and paparazzi, and living the glamorous celebrity lifestyle. As the Sims unlock more fame and reputation levels, Players can decide to purchase certain perks which will give them some more advantages.

There are a total of 5 celebrity ranks, each unlocking a variety of perks that can provide many benefits to a Sim. As Sims level up their fame, they will gain access to more advantages, as well as more perk points, which can further enhance their benefits in careers, popularity and branding. Players should be aware that fame in Sims gradually decreases over time, so those who wish to reach maximum fame should be sure to engage in activities that give them fame. Fortunately, it is easy to identify which activities will give them fame, as interacting with objects or other Sims will often provide a note by the option that it will give fame.

Alongside the perks, celebrity Sims will also gradually develop unique quirks over time, adding even more personality and making them behave in certain ways. As they reach higher fame levels, they will unlock additional quirk spots. However, players are unable to choose which quirks their Sims will get; the game will track their activities and based on what they do often, they will end up getting a quirk. Some of these quirks can be a bit of a hindrance as they make Sims behave in certain ways and get certain moodlets, but these aren't too much of an issue. Players can also use cheats or the Quirk B-Gone potion from the Satisfaction Points Rewards Store to remove the quirks they don't want.

Reputation is a key factor in the public image of a Sim. Every Sim has a reputation that can be either good, bad, or neutral, and this will affect the gameplay. A celebrity's reputation can elicit a reaction from other Sims. If the celebrity has a positive reputation, they will be cheered and have friendly reactions from other Sims. Conversely, if the celebrity has a negative reputation, they will be met with boos and other bad reactions from nearby Sims. Being infamous or having a good reputation will have an impact on the perks players can select, but these are divided into separate categories from the fame-level ones.

Sims with a positive reputation can donate items to boost their reputation and make a fan pleased, whereas Sims with a negative reputation can host Lampoon parties and be applauded for their mischievousness. It is quite easy to maintain a favorable reputation by simply performing actions or using an agent to construct a positive story about the celebrity Sim. It is important to note that even non-famous Sims can benefit from reputation. For example, with a Pristine reputation, Sims can leverage their relationships more easily and can even organize Charity Benefit Parties, unlocking additional rewards.

Lastly, it is important to note that there is some further customization that comes with the fame system. Players might notice that celebrity Sims have a "fame shine" which makes them sparkle and they also walk in a different manner. Luckily, players have the option of turning off this fame shine and switching to the normal walking style with self-interactions or interactions with other celebrity Sims. Furthermore, players can also opt out of the fame system in the Game Options for the played household. This can be an excellent choice for players who move between different households in the same playthrough, as it can protect certain Sims from being in the limelight and having their private life exposed, even if they partake in activities that would otherwise increase their fame.

Del Sol Valley

A view of the rich area of Del Sol Valley

Del Sol Valley is the newest addition to The Sims 4: Get Famous, and it is inspired by the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles and specifically Hollywood. This world offers 3 neighborhoods and 11 lots in total, 6 of which are residential and 5 being community zones. Regrettably, this is a bit low compared to other expansion packs, but there are still plenty of activities to do in Del Sol Valley. From exploring the neighborhoods to meeting celebrities and making a name for yourself, Del Sol Valley is the perfect place to live out your dreams of fame and fortune.

In Del Sol Valley, celebrities are a common sight, walking around, and interacting with fans and the paparazzi. Certain community lots also have a fame-level requirement, making them exclusive to celebrities, while homes of the famous have restricted access, preventing visitors from simply barging in. Sims can also find celebrity tiles on the Boulevard, similar to Hollywood’s Walk of Fame, and if they are famous enough, can place their own. There is also the Studio PBP where Sims can receive awards for a variety of activities, not just acting, but the concept is similar to the Oscars. In short, Del Sol Valley is the perfect place for anything related to being a celebrity in The Sims 4.

Actor / Actress Career

The Sims 4 Actor Career

Actor/Actress career is a new active career introduced with the Get Famous pack, and quite similar to Doctor, Scientist, and Detective careers in Get To Work expansion pack. This career relies heavily on the celebrity status and acting skill of the Sims to progress and gain promotions. It is the perfect career for those interested in gaining fame, as it allows Sims to gain celebrity status over time. Additionally, Sims will also earn good money through their acting career, making it a great way to make a living.

In order to make money with this career, Sims must join one of the agencies available to them. As they progress through their career and fame, more agencies will become available, each offering different advantages that will influence the kinds of gigs they get and their associated pay. Agencies will send out notifications to remind their actors to get gigs, which they can do by choosing from a list of options and attending an audition. The audition may result in success or failure, depending on the particular skills the Sim possesses. Sims who reach 3-star fame can bypass the audition process by taking the Established Name perk. Most of the daily tasks for each gig are generally similar, including getting ready for the shoot, wearing costumes, and performing certain actions. Players can choose to play it safe or take a risk with their performance; if their skill is high enough, they will get a significant boost, but they may also fail, resulting in reduced performance.

Drama Club Afterschool Activity

The Sims 4 Drama Club

Drama Club is a new afterschool activity available to Child and Teen Sims, similar to becoming a Scout. Unlike other career paths, afterschool activities do not provide monetary rewards. However, it does have its own set of tasks and promotion requirements, similar to a career path. The activity has four levels in total, and tasks include practicing acting or dramatics and learning lines in front of a mirror.

This afterschool activity is an ideal starting point for Sims who want to pursue an Actor career. Not only will they gain a small amount of fame, but they will also develop other important skills, such as Creativity and social skills for Child Sims, and Acting skills for Teen Sims. Once the Sim has reached the highest level in Drama Club, they will be rewarded with the Drama Club Accolade. This award can be found in the Household Inventory in Build Mode and can be placed to display in your Sim's home.

New Lot Traits

The Sims 4 Lot Traits

Get Famous brings 3 new lot traits, two of them for community lots and one of them for residential lots. The residential lot trait is called the Celebrity Home. This is a perfect lot trait for Celebrity Sims, as it will not only help boost their fame even further, but also provide restricted access to other Sims, thereby making fewer of them appear in order to take photos. However, if the fame level of the celebrity Sim is not high enough, the Sims living in the zone will receive the Poser moodlet, which will give a negative moodlet that can cause them embarrassment. Unfortunately, this trait will also affect the family members of the famous Sim, who are not famous themselves, and they too will receive this moodlet.

The Hottest Spot In Town trait is the perfect place for celebrity Sims to hang out, as there's more of a chance of them visiting. Unfortunately, the prices of food and drinks are doubled, which isn't great for the average Sim. However, if players own a restaurant with Dine Out, they can give this trait to the restaurant to make more money, as even getting a table will cost a fee. Moreover, Starlight accolades can only take place on lots with this trait, and initially, only Studio PBP comes with this trait.

Places with the Up-And-Coming Hot Spot lot trait is an excellent choice for celebrity Sims to visit, offering discounts on food and drinks to celebrities as well as the opportunity to host a meet and greet events. Furthermore, Sims can benefit from interacting with more fans and paparazzi in lots with this trait, and can even earn additional fame by doing so.

Acting Skill

The Sims 4 Acting Skill

Acting skill is an essential element to those looking to pursue a career as an Actor/Actress. It is quite simple to acquire, as almost no investment is necessary since it can be practiced in front of a mirror or with a microphone and reading skill books. Moreover, even without pursuing the career, Sims with a high enough skill level can perform scenes in public for tips and fame, thus making money from this skill. In general, this skill doesn't provide many additional benefits over making money, and as players progress through the levels, they can unlock more scenes to perform.

Media Production Skill

The Sims 4 Media Production Skill

Media Production skill is a minor skill with a max level of 5, and while it might not seem as important as the Acting skill at first glance, it can be a great addition for Sims that are pursuing fame and extra income. To make the most of this skill, players must invest in a Music Station or Video Station, as well as a Drone, depending on which type of production they are interested in. Both approaches have their advantages and can be used to make money and build fame, but they are not enough to sustain a life of celebrity status on their own.

New Trait: Self-Absorbed

personality traits in the Sims 4

Self-absorbed is an ideal trait for Sims who crave the attention of others. When they receive the attention, they will receive strong positive moodlets, but these will not last for very long. On the other hand, self-absorbed Sims who haven't had much attention in a while will receive a tense moodlet. Many of their Whims involve interacting with others, and also checking followers on Simstagram or taking selfies. This trait is especially beneficial for celebrity Sims, as it is generally easier for them to gain attention when in public, and they will also receive additional fame whenever they are recognized.

Self-Absorbed

In-Game Description:These Sims are all about themselves! They can Fish for Compliments, are more excited when receiving a present, and may become tense when they haven’t gotten enough attention. The celebrity spotlight is something they generally relish. After all, everyone else should love them as much as they do themselves, right?

Social

World-Famous Celebrity Aspiration

The Sims 4 World-Famous Celebrity Aspiration

World-Famous Celebrity Aspiration is the ideal aspiration for Sims who are looking to get the most out of the celebrity lifestyle and maximize the fame feature. It consists of various tasks that require Sims to gain fame, culminating in the ultimate goal of becoming a five-star celebrity. In addition, Sims must participate in Meet-and-Greet events, visit hot spots, and interact with fans and paparazzi in the correct manner to increase their fame. Traits such as the outgoing trait can be beneficial when pursuing this aspiration.

Furthermore, this aspiration's reward trait, Unstoppable Fame is quite strong for celebrity Sims. Sims who have the Celebrity trait will no longer have to worry about maintaining their fame, as it will no longer decay over time. They will no longer be annoyed by paparazzi, and instead will enjoy the attention that comes with being a celebrity. As an added bonus, they will gain an extra Fame perk point, granting them additional benefits from their celebrity status.

Master Actor Aspiration

The Sims 4 Master Actor Aspiration

The Master Actor aspiration is a great choice for Sims who are looking for a challenge and want to become famous through their acting career. It requires more effort than the World-Famous Celebrity aspiration, as it requires the Sim to level their acting skill, join an acting career, and win a Starlight Accolade Award. Additionally, the Sim must also place a Celebrity Tile and earn Gold in certain acting gigs. These added requirements make the Master Actor aspiration more specific than the World-Famous Celebrity, however, focusing on both aspirations simultaneously is entirely possible since they compliment each other quite well.

The Master Actor reward trait, World-Renowned Actor, ensures that Sims will never fail in acting actions. This trait gives Sims a performance boost, as it allows them to perform risky options without worry during acting gigs and earn more money from their career.

New CAS And Build/Buy Items

The Sims 4 Get Famous CAS Build_Buy Items

The Sims 4: Get Famous introduces an array of new CAS items, ranging from makeup, scars, and costumes specifically tailored for the Actor career. However, these items can be worn outside of this career as well - if Sims are feeling a bit daring! Additionally, some CAS items can help you capture the look of fame, as they mimic the styles worn by celebrities.
