Throughout the more than twenty years since the release of The Sims, the life simulation games have grown into one of the most recognizable franchises in gaming. The series frequently features a plethora of DLC packs for each new numbered game, adding more clothing, decorations, and even entirely new mechanics to the games. The Sims 4 has been no different with the game receiving twelve expansion packs and twelve smaller "game packs" since its release in 2014. Now, the newest sets of mini DLC packs have been revealed for next month.

Fresh off the release of The Sims 4's High School Years expansion, Maxis and EA have revealed two more cosmetic-focused DLC kits coming to the game throughout September. The Sims 4 will introduce the "First Fits Kit" tomorrow on September 1 with the second expansion of the month, titled the "Desert Luxe Kit," releasing in two weeks on September 14. Both kits are confirmed to be small additions to the game, focusing on introducing new cosmetics to the game rather than major game changes.

The First Fits Kit releasing tomorrow will introduce a variety of new clothing options for The Sims 4's in-game children, tailored towards young children and the recent high school expansion. EA describes the additions as allowing younger Sims to "start on a lifetime of trend-setting fashion," teasing some of the outfits coming to the game with the update. EA's preview of the DLC kit hints at new clothing options for children including leopard-print jackets and patterned leggings among others.

The Sims 4's second DLC kit of September will focus on adding new furniture to the game with a theme based around the "Southwestern desert." The Desert Luxe Kit will see the addition of several new stone and wood furnishings with a focus on "functional architectural elements built into your space." The price of both Sims 4 DLC kits was not revealed, but fans should expect both to be priced similarly to previous mini DLC kits at $4.99 USD.

The Sims 4's newest cosmetic offerings comes as the fourth major entry in the franchise has also been its most long-standing. The Sims 4 has been the main Sims title supported by Maxis and EA for nearly a decade since its initial release in September 2014. Despite a launch met with mixed reception from fans and critics, The Sims 4 has remained a popular title with the game passing 33 million players as of February 2021. While The Sims 5 may still be well off into the future, Maxis's continued support of The Sims 4 looks to give fans plenty of reason to keep playing.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
