The Sims team has released a teaser video hinting at the first roadmap of new content coming to The Sims 4 in 2023. Following the Behind the Sims Summit streaming event in October 2022, players have been waiting for any news surrounding what is to come, especially with everything the developers teased during the event, including Infants, new packs, The Sims 5, and more. After months of silence, The Sims 4 finally released a short video announcing new content for 2023.While the announcement of the new generation of Sims, dubbed Project Rene, and making the base game free-to-play hint at exciting things for the future of Sims 4, it seems that players can rest easy for now, knowing they are getting more content for the game. DLC is a huge part of the Sims franchise that continuously builds on the complex worlds and gameplay available. Over the last nine years, various kinds of DLC have been introduced for Sims 4, including Expansion packs, Game packs, Stuff packs, Kits, free base game updates, and pack refreshes. Expansion and Game packs focus on adding new gameplay and worlds to the game, while Stuff packs and Kits are typically more Build/Buy or Create-A-Sim items. The pack refreshes are newer content, piloted with the Spa Day Game pack, that expands on already existing DLC.RELATED: The Sims 4: Legacy Edition is Shutting DownThere's been a new post on the official Sims Twitter account containing a video revealing a small roadmap teasing the new things The Sims plans to drop in the next few months and announcing a community stream that will go live on January 31. The video followed the theme of a family reunion as it featured a family tree and used lots of language alluding to relatives and family. There were no details on the exact timing of things, but it was revealed that players are getting a base game update, two Kits, and one Expansion pack in the near future. The update hints at the much-awaited new life stage and Infants, with the artwork being a diaper. The other artwork for the Kits and the Expansion pack are vaguer but include underwear, teeth, and a bear.

There is much speculation following this teaser, but many players are banking on a generations-type Expansion pack or something that focuses on family gameplay. This is supported by what was previewed during the Behind the Sims Summit when they revealed the new worlds coming with future packs, with one featuring new ways to carry babies and children riding bikes (which is not something they can do currently).

Unfortunately, there is no confirmation that that is the world coming with the upcoming Expansion pack, but the idea is exciting for the Sims players who do legacy playthroughs or like to focus on families. Luckily, players won't have to wait long and will most likely know more after the January 31 livestream about what they can look forward to getting in Sims 4 for the new year.

The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
