Supermassive Games is quickly becoming one of gaming's most prolific horror studios. While the developer has been working in the industry since 2009, it wouldn't be until 2015 before the studio started to turn heads, releasing Until Dawn, a smash horror hit that shot the developer into stardom practically overnight. Supermassive quickly made a name for itself, becoming instantly associated with choice-based, narrative-focused horror. While the developer's follow-up, The Dark Pictures Anthology, wasn't met with the same critical acclaim, the studio is determined to continue producing horror experiences - the next being The Quarry.

Revealed just a few days ago, The Quarry is Supermassive's next project and is said to be a spiritual successor to Until Dawn. From what can be seen in just the brief trailer, The Quarry looks to be bringing the larger scope of Until Dawn back along with a mysterious slasher narrative that resembles the predecessor's gripping story in more than a few ways. Taking another leaf from Until Dawn's book, The Quarry features a star-studded cast, with a handful of faces that should be instantly recognizable to horror fans.

The Quarry Cast and Character List

the quarry cast

Taking the lead of The Quarry's trailer is none other than David Arquette, renowned for his role in the Scream franchise, among other horror properties. Arquette's character in The Quarry, named Chris, shares some similarities with his role as Dwight "Dewey" Riley in Scream, with both characters being lawmen. Arquette seems like the perfect choice for a mentor-type character. David Arquette's seasoned acting chops seem more than suited to this role, and Supermassive's increasingly impressive facial animations seem to capture the actor's frantic expressions very well.

Travis, the sheriff of the local town of North Kill, is played by Ted Raimi. Raimi is another horror veteran, appearing in his brother, Sam Raimi's, Evil Dead series. Marvel fans may also recognize Ted Raimi as the character in Spider-Man 2 who suggests the name of "Doc Ock" to J. Jonah Jameson.

Some of the more mysterious figures in The Quarry's first trailer include Jedediah, played by another horror icon, Lance Henriksen. Fans might recognize him from Aliens and The Terminator, amongst many other things. Bobby, played by Ethan Suplee of My Name is Earl and Wolf of Wall Street fame, is another mysterious figure, along with Constance, who's played by The Grudge and Insidious actor Lin Shayne. On The Quarry's official website, the only sentence in these three characters' bio reads, "They can't wait to meet you...," which is suitably ominous.

Another character with an eery official description, Eliza is played by Grace Zabriskie, likely best known for her portrayal of Sarah Palmer in David Lynch's innovative psychological horror Twin Peaks. Eliza's bio reads, "She knew you were coming...."

The celebrity names don't stop there, as the main cast also features a plethora of talented younger actors as well. Laura, the character in the baseball cap in the poster, is a budding vet, who just wants to spend a chill summer camping with her friends before heading back to her studies. Laura is played by Siobhan Williams, a British actor who appeared in 2016's Forsaken.

Laura's partner, Max, played by Skyler Gisondo from The Righteous Gemstones, is the funny-man of the group, but his lack of ambition is causing friction with Laura. Modern Family's Ariel Winter takes the part of Abigail, a socially awkward teen looking for love.

Brenda Song, who some may remember from the Suite Life of Zack & Cody, or more recently Dollface, is playing Kaitlyn, an outgoing, confident member of the group that often assumes a leadership role in times of stress. The member of the group that struggles to balance his vulnerability with stoicism, Nick is played by Evan Evagora, who has recently appeared in Star Trek: Picard.

Halston Sage, known for her roles in Paper Towns and The Orville, plays Emma, an aspiring actress and influencer who is constantly filming everything she does. Detective Pikachu's Justice Smith plays Ryan, the archetypal 'loner' who may seem standoffish but has a deep love for his friends.

Using a bombastic radio persona to hide his own insecurities about rejection, Dylan is played by Miles Robbins, who appeared in 2018's Halloween. Rounding out the cast list is Jacob, the stereotypical jock that must appear in a teen horror by law. Jacob is played by Zach Tinker, best known for his role in CBS' The Young and The Restless.

The Quarry launches June 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
