The Planet Crafter is all about surviving unfavorable odds and making do with what you have. Players must start with nothing more than a landing pod and nearby natural resources, yet they must somehow create a utopia from a barren wasteland of a world. Before players can begin terraforming, however, they must ensure that they have a means of sustaining themselves, a source of food and water.

The desolate worlds of The Planet Crafter are unfit for sustaining life, let alone possessing a readily available source of food and water. As such, players must take it upon themselves to create these necessities, much like everything else in the game. Making food and water is not an immediately understood process, leaving many players clueless and on the brink of death. Fortunately, once players understand the procedure, they will never have to worry about food and water again.

How To Make Food

The Planet Crafter Food Grower

Players begin with a limited supply of Space Food, which will suffice for a short period. However, once this reserve depletes, players must look for sustenance elsewhere as they cannot make food until later in the game. Space Food is found in Storage Chests sprawled throughout the planet, but these cannot sustain players forever. Eventually, players must progress towards unlocking the blueprint for the Food Grower.

The Food Grower is the machine responsible for creating, or more accurately, growing food. This device's blueprint is unlocked once players generate enough Oxygen, specifically reaching a score of 12.00 ppt. Players can build Food Growers using Aluminum, Iron, and a Water Bottle, with the upgraded version demanding much more. These machines can only produce food when players give them Seeds, however.

There is a myriad of Seeds sprawled throughout the planet. Each offers varying benefits, but all provide sustenance nonetheless. To find Seeds, players must venture far from the confines of their landing pod. Storage Chests and wrecks are the only places where players can find them. Many Seeds offer roughly the same nourishment as Space Food, but the most effective are Beans, which restore 60 Health to players.

How To Make Water

Players begin with only a single Water Bottle, but fortunately for them, they can create more without difficulty. So, players need not worry about making this Water Bottle last. Players can make water at any simple Craft Station using a single piece of Ice. Thus, making the process a near-effortless and uncomplicated process. Even so, there are other more effective methods of making water.

There are several machines capable of producing water from natural sources. However, before players can build these devices, they must reach the Rain Terraformation Stage. Doing so will require a great deal of time and effort, as players must significantly increase a planet's Heat, Oxygen, and Pressure scores. These machines are well worth the stress because they offer a constant and readily available supply of water.

The Planet Crafter is available now on PC.
