Players of The Planet Crafter have to be resourceful and scavenge for supplies from the many wrecks and crates scattered across the map. The contents of most crates are random, but players can usually find something useful.
Of course, the most useful items are found in the golden crates. Players have to search carefully to find these chests, but when they do, they get some significant rewards. That's why it helps to know exactly where to find each one, and this guide will provide coordinates for all 17 golden crates in The Planet Crafter (as of the Lore and Automation update).
Why Find Golden Crates?
Each crate in The Planet Crafter has a random set of contents, and that includes the golden crates. However, golden crates generally contain items one level above what players will find in normal blue crates during the same terraformation stage. Despite this, two items are always the same: the golden effigy and the golden seed. In addition, players who deconstruct golden crates will get one aluminum and one super alloy instead of one iron.
Golden seeds can go in Vegetubes and Flower Spreaders, and they produce is six times as much oxygen as Lirma seeds. That's the most of any flower seed in the game. Players can also use them to create the secret tree seed Pleom.
Golden effigies are less useful than golden seeds, but they're very collectible. Each golden crate has a unique effigy, which means players will find the same set of golden effigies in every playthrough. Players can eventually unlock the Display Case using blueprint microchips, and they're the perfect home for golden effigies. Much like Butterfly Display Cases and Flower Pots, effigies are a great way to brighten up a base.
The Locations
Note that the coordinates used to locate each crate are the ones displayed in the lower-left corner of the player's HUD. Also, players can reach any golden crate at any terraformation level, aside from the two in the final Warden ruin.

The Last Effigy
Attentive readers will have noticed that this guide mentions 17 golden crates, but an earlier image shows 18 effigies. That's because there's one last effigy in the game, and it has to do with a person named Ikhlas.
Ikhlas is a survivor from one of the shipwrecks, and they created five underground bunkers during their time on the planet. Players who want the full experience should start with Ikhlas's first bunker in the eastern desert, coordinates 1169:8:1288. They should then find the bunker in one of the sinkholes of the Gate Desert and follow the clues to Ikhlas's third, fourth, and fifth bunker. However, players who don't care about the lore can find the fifth bunker and final effigy (a satellite) at -579:88:1523.
The Planet Crafter is available now in early access on PC.
