In The Outlast Trials, players can level up their character by buying Rigs, Prescriptions, or Amps from Murkoff Facility employees in the Sleep Room after they reach certain Therapy Levels. Therapy Level indicates a character's strength in The Outlast Trials.

The Sleep Room is the home base where players participate in trial-based Therapy, hoping to escape the horrors at Murkoff Facility. A high Therapy Level is essential to unlocking upgrades that make dealing with enemies easier. The further into the Program trials players get, the more complex the missions are, so here's how to increase Therapy Level fast in The Outlast Trials.

Players earn XP that goes towards their Therapy Level every time they complete one of the Program trials. The trials consist of various missions players must execute on behalf of Murkoff Facility at themed areas, which usually consist of harmful activities. Players will have one main objective to fulfill by completing multiple tasks while avoiding enemies. If they die before finishing the final objective, the trial is failed, and all progress is lost.

XP is earned even if players fail a trial, but achieving good grades results in a significantly larger amount. Trials are graded on a scale from F to A+, with F being a failing grade. Furthermore, A+ grades reward players with the most XP, Cash, and Decorations. Players must complete the objectives with the least mistakes to earn higher grades on trials, so no deaths, triggering traps, entering psychosis, etc.

The trials are a lot easier with friends in online multiplayer matches. In solo play, players get three chances to respawn after dying before they fail the trial. In co-op, on the other hand, they can be revived by their companions, so the mission only ends when everyone is downed. Even earning a low grade due to dying multiple times still gets more XP than failing.

Players can also repeat trials to earn XP. This is a good strategy since they'll know what to expect while exploring the maps and doing puzzles. Certain details in the trials will change each time a player starts one, but for the most part, they stay the same. Every time players get a good grade during one of the programs, there's a chance they will earn enough XP to level up in Therapy.

The Outlast Trials

Benefits of increasing Therapy Level in The Outlast Trials include unlocking the Engineer, the Pharmacy, and the Amp Seller. All three are NPCs that provide players with equipment, abilities, and bonuses that are active during the trials and assist with offensive and defensive skills in solo and multiplayer matches.

The Outlast Trials is available in Early Access on PC.
