Everything to Do in The Outlast Trials

The Outlast Trials

The Outlast games are iconic first-person single-player games that love to use shock, horror, and dark themes in their stories. Although it's not limited to solo play, The Outlast Trials maintains the crucial aspects of the franchise that make them such successful horror titles while paving its own way.

Trials are part of therapy programs that lead players closer and closer to joining the reborn and beating the game. The trials consist of various puzzles and tasks that players get graded on. The four programs in The Outlast Trials take place in different map areas:

  • Police Station - Program 1
  • Fun Park - Program 2
  • Orphanage - Program 3
  • Mansion - Program X

The Mansion is only available after players beat the entire game and finish all the program trials. The programs consist of five trials each for a total of fifteen, excluding Program X.

The Outlast Trials is in Early Access and may eventually have more maps, enemies, and trials added at final release.

How Long to Beat The Outlast Trials

The Outlast Trials

How long it takes to beat The Outlast Trials depends on players' ability to finish the trials. Trials can take 20 minutes to an hour or more to complete all the objectives and side quests. Overall, completing everything, including finding the collectibles, could take players a minimum of 15–30 hours.

Playing with friends or randoms can make the trials easier to finish, but they get more complex as the programs progress. Thankfully, equipment and skills can be purchased to provide some advantages while taking on enemies. Players can get these by earning XP and increasing their Therapy Level. Each time players complete a trial, they will earn XP, whether they pass or fail.

The Outlast Trials

The gameplay is similar to the previous titles, with players spending most of their time running and hiding. However, they may also stun enemies for an opportunity to escape. Players will get three chances to finish a trial if they are killed before they receive a failing grade of "F."

The Outlast Trials is available in Early Access on PC.
