Microsoft adds The Orange Box, Galaga Legions, and Joe Danger 2: The Movie from Hello Games to the lineup of Xbox 360 games backward compatible on Xbox One.

When Microsoft first announced Xbox One's backward compatibility with Xbox 360 games, some may have been skeptical that the feature would receive such consistent support, but so far, the doubters have been proven wrong. New games are being added to the backward compatibility lineup on an almost weekly basis, with the latest batch of titles including one of the best deals in gaming history, The Orange Box.

At the time of its release, The Orange Box released to widespread critical acclaim. It brought Half-Life 2 and its two DLC episodes to consoles. Plus, it introduced the world to the original Portal game. If that weren't enough, The Orange Box also features Team Fortress 2, and while the game received more support on Steam than it ever did on Xbox 360, perhaps its online community will get a shot in the arm now that it is finally playable on a new-gen console.

Some Xbox One owners that never played The Orange Box on Xbox 360 should consider picking it up, but they should be warned that the Half-Life story ends on a cliffhanger that has yet to be resolved almost a decade later. New evidence of Half-Life 3 seems to pop up every once in awhile, but to date, Valve hasn't offered anything concrete on the game.

Those disappointed by the Half-Life 2 cliffhanger may be able to fill the void with the other two games that hit the backward compatibility lineup at the same time, Joe Danger 2: The Movie and Galaga Legions. In our Joe Danger 2: The Movie review, we called it one of the best games available on Xbox Live Arcade, and while we had some issues with its multiplayer functionality, its single player content should provide a few hours of entertainment. To that end, it may remind some of the people that asked for a No Man's Sky refund of the talent of Hello Games.

The third new addition to the Xbox One backward compatibility feature's list of games is Galaga Legions. From the team that created the critically acclaimed Pac-Man: Championship Edition, Galaga Legions provides a modern twist on the classic sci-fi arcade shooter that earned decent reviews when it first released on Xbox Live Arcade five years ago.

With Galaga Legions, Joe Danger 2: The Movie, and The Orange Box all now playable on Xbox One, the total number of backward compatible 360 games is at 273. At the rate it has been adding games to the service lately, Microsoft may cross the 300 mark before 2016 comes to a close. If it does, hopefully some previously confirmed titles coming to the lineup, like BioShock: Infinite and Skate 3, are part of the new additions.

The Orange Box is available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and is now playable on Xbox One.
