At this year's Jump Festa, "The One Piece" anime remake was announced this is certainly going to be incredibly huge moving forward as fans find out more about this incredible project.

"The One Piece" Remake Announcement

Jump Festa 2024

"The One Piece" remake announcement came at the very end of the One Piece Jump Festa 2024 stage. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the One Piece anime, there was absolutely no better way for the series than to get a new anime adaptation. This anime adaptation is going to be absolutely massive and will likely be the biggest One Piece animation project to date, only after the original series and, perhaps, even better than it.

"The One Piece" remake will be handled by Wit Studio, which fans know to be incredibly amazing. At the same time, Netflix will also be involved in the making of this incredible One Piece remake and that certainly has fans very excited. At the very least, fans already know that this anime will be distributed on Netflix when it is time for it to air and all this is certainly exciting news. Fans do not know much more about this anime project just yet, however, a teaser trailer for it was certainly dropped earlier. This teaser trailer showcased the beginning of Luffy's journey and, at the very least, fans know that the anime is going to be following the manga very closely and, as such, isn't going to be taking any crazy liberties. At the same time, the teaser also confirmed that the voice actors are going to be retained and that might be one of the biggest reasons why One Piece is getting a remake so soon.

Why One Piece Needs A Remake

Many fans would wonder as to why One Piece would need a remake. After all, the series already has an incredibly successful TV anime adaptation, led by Toei Animation, who have done incredibly well over the years. This anime remake might feel somewhat redundant to fans, however, when one looks deeper into it, there is a bigger need for a One Piece remake than any other series. One Piece is the biggest manga to have ever come out of Japan and that goes without saying. It is a series so big that it has also influenced an incredibly successful live-action adaptation that blew up in popularity all over the world.

One Piece is a story that is incredibly marketable, yet, it is being somewhat held back by an anime adaptation that many do not like. This certainly does not take anything away from the staff. In fact, the beginning to the original One Piece anime is phenomenal. But, later on, more problems start to show. The staff have their hands tied behind their back due to how close they are to the manga and, it would be disingenuous to say that the One Piece anime hasn't knocked it out of the park, especially ever since the events of the Wano arc. However, the pacing of the anime is still incredibly frustrating and, at the same time, the number of episodes that the anime has is, of course, going to be problematic for newer fans to get into the series.

A Fresh Approach

One of the biggest reasons why One Piece is going to get a remake is to give the series a fresher approach. The One Piece anime began airing a long time ago and, while it is certainly held in great light by many fans all over the world, that doesn't mean that it won't benefit from a fresher approach. There is an incredibly talented staff at Wit Studio that can bring Oda's vision to life in a remarkable way, all the while keeping in mind the newer approach required to rejuvenate this series.

This new approach would make it more marketable to the up and coming anime fans and, if this move is successful, fans can expect One Piece to boom in terms of popularity, just like an incredible anime adaptation did for JJK.

Better Pacing

The biggest reason why One Piece needs an anime adaptation is to improve the pacing of the series. One Piece is a remarkable story when it comes to the anime and there is absolutely no doubting the fact that it is one of the best to have ever been told. However, when one decides to go into the anime, the sheer length of the series puts one off. At the same time, One Piece has massive pacing issues which means that sometimes, the series ends up adapting less than a chapter, which is certainly not ideal.

That is precisely what "The One Piece" remake can change when it finally premieres. If "The One Piece" remake manages to fix the pacing of the series, fans can look at much more concise arcs, which also won't take away anything from the story, and the series will likely reduce the size of the story by hundreds of episodes.

A New Anime Feel

Above all, One Piece absolutely needs a bigger boost to be more popular. Toei Animation is certainly doing everything that it possibly can and one cannot fault them for the Incredible job that they have managed to do over the years. Their adaptation of One Piece is going to continue, and, at the same time, new blood will be given to the story through "The One Piece" remake. This is an adaptation that fans absolutely need and a mammoth series such as One Piece demands.

A new feel to the same story will bring back old fans and make sure that they sit through all the incredible episodes and seasons of the anime that are to come and, at the same time, make it so that newer anime fans can feel comfortable watching One Piece from the beginning and just seeing for themselves what an incredible story it is.

When Will "The One Piece" Remake Be Released?

As of this moment, fans do not know when "The One Piece" remake will air. It is likely going to be at some point in 2025 and that certainly should have fans all over the world very excited. A proper anime adaptation will take a few months in preproduction and that will give the staff working on it enough time to work at their own leisure and, at the same time, produce the best work that they possibly can. Fans should expect this anime adaptation to drop at some point early in 2025 or, perhaps, very, very late 2024. This, however, is merely a speculation, based on how anime adaptations usually work.

As mentioned earlier, Wit Studio and Netflix are going to be in charge of producing this anime, which means fans can expect massive things from it, given that track record.
