Despite receiving significant backlash from viewers for not showing off enough state of the art gameplay, Microsoft's recent Inside Xbox did bring a lot of brand new games to the attention of fans looking forward at the Xbox Series X's launch lineup. These included a stunning science fiction first-person shooter titled Bright Memory: Infinite, an atmospheric creepy horror title called Scorn, and a brand new trailer for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

However, one of the biggest games to emerge from the showcase was Bloober Team's newest project, The Medium. Presented through a terrifying cinematic reveal trailer showcasing the game's world and tone, it was easily one of the most well-received segments of the show, especially with Bloober Team's reputation skyrocketing in recent years. It seems some new information has emerged about the game via a new interview as well, with the horror game seemingly looking to push the limits both visually and technologically.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Wojciech Piejko, the game's lead designer, discussed what players could expect from the title when it dropped in the near future. According to Piejko, the game will be supporting 4K visuals and ray-tracing, which is incredibly exciting for a game that looks to provide a world as visually distinct as The Medium's. He also goes on to reveal how the game will utilize the next-generation's enhanced load times, claiming the game will be seamless with no loading screens in sight. "Immersion is very crucial for us," Piejko explains, detailing why load times and enhanced visuals are so crucial to The Medium's experience. He continues, "having this seamless experience without any interruptions like loading and stuff is perfect for horror games."

With a solid library of modern horror games behind them - including the likes of The Blair Witch, Observer, and Layers of Fear - Bloober Team's assurance that The Medium will be its biggest game yet is incredibly exciting. It's hard not to believe Bloober Team either, with the title supposedly sporting a mysterious feature that will change how players interact with the world around them as well as bringing iconic composer Akira Yamaoka of Silent Hill fame on board for the score.

Alongside the future release of The Medium, it seems Bloober Team will also be bringing Observer to next-generation consoles, with updated visuals and some brand new content. Clearly the promising horror-based studio has major plans for the next slate of consoles, so fans should keep their eyes peeled for where they go next.

The Medium launches holiday 2020 for PC and Xbox Series X.
