It didn’t take Disney long to implement big changes in the MCU. The Marvels, previously set for a summer premiere, has now been pushed to November, with the new release date accompanying the reveal of the movie’s first official poster.

Captain Marvel 2 is believed to have wrapped filming and most post-production work in 2022. However, the delay announcement may have more to do with Marvel Studios' new approach to timing its releases rather than any possible setbacks in completing the movie's final cut. The Marvels was initially scheduled for 2022, and by now, it’s one of the MCU projects with the most changes to its premiere date, with this latest one coming after Bob Iger was reinstated as Disney CEO.

News of the scheduling shift was shared by The Marvels protagonist Brie Larson, who dropped the new November 10 date along with a dazzling poster featuring her and co-stars Teyonad Parris and Iman Vellani, with Captain Marvel front and center. By sticking with the prior release date, The Marvels would have faced a slight overlap with other highly anticipated films in 2023, namely Barbie, Oppenheimer, and Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part One. Perhaps Disney executives were not overly enthused about having to duke it out against Tom Cruise in July.

Larson's “Together” message certainly helps underline The Marvels' premise. In Captain Marvel 2, Carol Danvers, Monica Rambeau and Kamala Khan will team up to save the universe from an evolving Kree threat, with the former two having to work through their issues along the way. The Marvels release date change comes only days after reports that Iger and Kevin Feige were looking to change the MCU's content flow as early as this year.

Those sources expressed uncertainty about shows like Echo or Ironheart landing on Disney Plus this year. The Marvels' new fall premiere would also translate into more time between Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and Captain Marvel's team-up. Unlike Ant-Man, the first Captain Marvel earned over a billion dollars, nearly two-thirds as much as the two Guardians movies combined.

Funnily enough, Captain Marvel was present in two Phase Four post-credits scenes, as she shows up in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Ms. Marvel, which suggests Carol Danvers will have a lot on her plate come November.

The Marvel is now scheduled for release on November 10, 2023.
