In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the one thing as inevitable as Thanos is the habit of fans noticing a blurry background detail in less than a second of footage. It's happened again with the final trailer for The Marvels, and these eye doctor-defying viewers may have sussed out some crucial context to the heavily rumored X-Men appearance in the movie.

It's been a pretty open secret that the X-Men would factor into The Marvels in some way, and various Easter eggs throughout the movie's marketing campaign have only served to solidify that theory. It makes perfect sense, given how the excellent Ms. Marvel series ended. In that series, the final episode featured a bit of a stinger teasing the fact that Iman Vellani's Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel has mutant DNA. Seeing as how The Marvels serves as a follow-up to that series (along with Captain Marvel and even WandaVision to an extent), the inclusion of the eminent mutant team known as the X-Men almost feels inevitable.

But now, eagle-eyed fans have spotted a possible new reference to the X-Men in the latest trailer for The Marvels. As pointed out by X-Men fan site X-MenFilms.com on Twitter, one shot late in the trailer (at 1:45) sees Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau watching someone walk by in what appears to be a medical facility of some sort. In the background of this literal split-second scene, a monitor can be seen with an emblem on the display that looks an awful lot like the X-Men logo. Between the setting of the scene and the unknown character walking by, the season is ripe for a bountiful speculation harvest.

Given the possible medical setting of this particular shot, it may drive home a rumored secret cameo in The Marvels featuring Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast. Despite the double take that Grammer's involvement continues to inspire even nearly 20 years after his appearance as the big blue fuzzy guy in X-Men: The Last Stand, fans still remember him as the character thanks to his uncanny match for Dr. McCoy's intellectual side. A gifted scientist, Dr. McCoy maintains his academic pursuits while using his superhuman strength and abilities. So it wouldn't be much of a stretch to assume perhaps he's the one behind this hospital-like room.

Aside from the logo, there's also the matter of the unknown figure walking by as Monica looks on, seemingly in awe. The person appears to be a woman, and it could just be Brie Larson's Captain Marvel. But it seems a shot like this wouldn't be in a trailer if it wasn't significant in some way. Perhaps this is one of the X-Men, like Storm or even Jean Gray. It's difficult to tell her race despite seeing her hand in the shot; it could go either way. Of course, those could both be way off.

The Marvels features the 3 aforementioned leads teaming up when they find their powers entangled in troublesome ways. They have to work together to defeat Zawe Ashton's gray-area villain Dar-Benn, but beyond that, they still have to fix their power problem. Who better to help with that than a genius-level mutant who knows a thing or two about unexpected powers?

The Marvels will premiere theatrically on November 10th.
