The new adventure movie The Lost City stars several famous actors, such as Sandra Bullock, Brad Pitt, Daniel Radcliffe - or Channing Tatum as the handsome model Alan who, nevertheless, isn't as heroic as the character he portrays for book covers. The movie is premiering very soon, but it's already heavily expected by all fans of the actors as well as adventure movies in general.

Before the audience watches it, they can pass the time by taking a look at some of Channing Tatum's underappreciated movies. Tatum has been acting professionally since 2000 and while he has amassed a lot of hit movies, there are still some undiscovered jewels hiding in his filmography.

5 The Book Of Life (2014)

The Book of Life 2014

When people think about Channing Tatum's work, they usually first recall his live appearances in various movies. Less so the fact that Tatum is also accomplished in voice acting, a fact which he proved in the Lego Batman as well as this 2014 movie. The Book of Life focuses on Manolo, a young man, who has different dreams than his family and sets out on an epic adventure, during which he meets his great-grandfather. Manolo also has to fight his best friend for the heart of the woman he loves, Maria (voiced by Zoe Saldana).

The movie is visually beautiful, funny, touching at times, and sends out the message that a family is important but so is following someone's dreams. Channing Tatum voiced Joaquin in the movie, Manolo's best friend and the one who also likes Maria. Considering Joaquin's importance for the plot, every fan of Channing Tatum who wants to enjoy his voice performance shouldn't miss out on watching the movie.

4 Smallfoot (2018)

Smallfoot 2018

Another animated movie that flew under the radar even more than The Book of Life has Channing Tatum in the leading role. Channing plays Migo, a young Yeti who believes that humans, who are considered a myth, truly exist. The only problem is that when he shares his discovery, the fact that he saw a human, with the rest of his village, they don't believe him and cast him out. It's up to Migo to find proof to change their minds. Luckily, he won't be alone as his secret love Meechee (voiced by Zendaya) decides to help him.

The movie is an adventurous family-friendly story that the viewers will enjoy regardless of their age. It has the sense of wonder and discovery that many other movies lack, as Migo and Meechee venture out into a world they don't really know, looking for humans aka small foot creatures (hence the movie's title). The cast is excellent, other than Channing Tatum and Zendaya, the movie also stars names such as Danny DeVito, LeBron James, and Jack Quaid, to name just a few. Smallfoot has another advantage as it turns a well-known story around and instead of the humans discovering a Yeti, it offers a view from the opposite side.

3 Dog (2022)

Dog 2022

With only 10 thousand ratings on IMDb, one of Channing Tatum's latest movies has yet a strong chance to climb up in numbers over time. For now, though, Dog remains one of the lesser-known movies in Tatum's filmography. With this movie, Channing Tatum joined the long ranks of actors who directed a movie and also starred in it. The movie is an unusual road movie as it centers on the ex-Marine Briggs (Tatum) who gets the task to deliver the dog Lulu to the funeral of her former owner. As time progresses and Lulu brings chaos to Briggs' life, the two grow closer.

The bond between a dog and a human is something that never disappoints when shown in movies, and Dog manages to combine both more emotional and hilarious scenes. An interesting fact that makes the movie even more personal is that the dog Lulu was named after Channing Tatum's real dog who passed away in 2018 - but not before she and Tatum also went on a road trip. Even without the extra context, Dog is an enjoyable movie, especially for all fans of dogs.

2 The Eagle (2011)

The Eagle 2011

Channing Tatum often plays in movies that take place in the current days. That's why it's so rare to see him in a historical piece, one that was partially inspired by real events. Tatum plays Marcus, a young soldier, who arrives in Britain in the year 140 to work there. When he's dismissed from duty after an attack, Marcus goes looking for the Ninth Legion that disappeared years ago and was led by Marcus' father. The only company he has on his journey is the slave Esca (Jamie Bell). Many dangers await them on their journey, and what makes it even more difficult is that Marcus and Esca don't initially trust or like each other.

The movie creates a strong atmosphere of times long gone, and it doesn't spare the characters. The settings are beautiful, but the movie also doesn't shy away from violence. Both Tatum and Bell play different roles than their fans might be accustomed to, but they don't disappoint.

1 10 Years (2011)

10 Years 2011

Channing Tatum is best known for his comedy work but not all the comedy movies he appeared in got the same amount of attention. 10 Years belongs among the lesser-known ones. The plot is seemingly simple. A group of former classmates meet after 10 years at a school reunion and discover that almost anything can happen at such a reunion.

The movie creates the basic situation and then uses it to come up with one joke after another. The cast stars known names, such as Jenna Dewan, Chris Pratt, Rosario Dawson, or Oscar Isaacs, to name just a few. The movie will entertain everyone who likes the actors involved or has ever visited a school reunion before.
