The Last of Us series features many callbacks to the development history of Naughty Dog, from Nathan Drake plushies to Crash Bandicoot porn parodies. On many a shelving unit throughout The Last of Us, a dusty PlayStation 3 can be found alongside Uncharted board games. Though wholesome references on the surface, these nods to the forgotten past honor the hard work of the many developers that came before, laying the groundwork for what followed.
If there’s one lesson that The Last of Us Part 1 teaches players, it’s that everybody makes mistakes; It’s only through owning those wrongdoings that people can learn to move past them, and so it is with Jak X: Combat Racing, Naughty Dog’s attempt to cash in on the racing game boom of the 2000s – an arcade cabinet of which can be found in the game. This guide will show players where to find this arcade cabinet and how to interact with it to grab the “Nobody’s Perfect” trophy for The Last of Us Part 1.
How To Play Jak X
To find the Jak X arcade cabinet, players must first boot up the Left Behind DLC from the main menu and play through far enough to reach the “Fun and Games” chapter. It’s recommended that players new to The Last of Us Part 1 play through the main story first, or at least reach the Winter section before starting Left Behind.
The “Fun and Games” chapter begins after Ellie reaches the military aid helicopter and retrieves the sutures from the medical kit. The game then flashes back to the months prior as Ellie and Riley enter the now-illuminated mall. This section gives players a break from the action and a chance to hang out with Riley on a carousel and take photos in a booth; afterward, the pair will make their way up an escalator and head into the neon-lit “Raja’s Arcade.”
To find the Jak X cabinet, navigate to the back left corner of the arcade before talking to Riley by the Angel Knives cabinet. In this corner, Ellie can interact with the Jak X cabinet, at which she will sit and talk to herself as if she were playing the game.
Once the animation is over and Ellie climbs from the seat to make a rude remark about the game, the “Nobody’s Perfect” trophy should pop, and players will be well on their way to achieving The Last of Us Part 1’s platinum trophy.
