As they approach Salt Lake City in this chapter of The Last of Us Part 1, Ellie has become noticeably distant from Joel. Following the harrowing events of the previous winter, Ellie’s terrifying close call with David has left her with scars, and a much-needed moment of levity could not come sooner. This chapter sees the famous giraffe sequence come into play, and players can experience a tender moment between Joel and Ellie as they reconnect.

The duo sharpens their resolve to complete their journey to find the Fireflies once and for all. At the bus depot, players will learn a little more about the initial outbreak of the cordyceps infection, with Joel providing context for the medical triage tents that were set up. As they pass through, players can restock their supplies and find some remaining collectibles, including artifacts. Here is where players can collect the artifacts in the tenth chapter, Bus Depot.

While walking down the highway, players will pass an ambulance, and further along will be an open RV waiting to be explored. By the sink, players can pick up an old photo of what once was a happy family, and whatever supplies they left are available for the player to take.

Upon entering the Logan James Bus Station, players will need to take a left to find a set of stairs. If they descend here and continue along the left-hand side, they'll eventually reach a cluster of suitcases in the corner by the bench. Alongside supplies, there will be an open suitcase, inside of which is the next note for players to collect.

Following the famous giraffe sequence, players will come across an old bus depot that was used as a makeshift medical facility. On the other side, in the triage tent that also has a workbench, players can find the map on the table opposite.

While not a true artifact in the sense that it needs to be collected, players may remember seeing this artifact in Ellie’s inventory during the previous chapter. Ellie will give the photo to Joel, explaining that she had stolen it from Tommy back at the dam while the two of them were there. The pair share a heartfelt moment, reflecting on their losses and solidifying their own bond.

With a total of 99 notes and artifacts to find and examine in The Last of Us Part 1 and the DLC Left Behind, players will need to keep a keen eye out for each of them to earn the trophy, “Chronicles”.

The Last of Us Part 1 is available on PlayStation 5 and a PC version is in development.
