A Last of Us fan has a pretty cool idea for a new weapon that Ellie could use in Part 3. It may not seem like she needs to up her arsenal in any way, but it’s an interesting idea that is unlike any of the other weapons used in The Last of Us so far.

The Last of Us is one of the most highly acclaimed series of games ever, as it is an absolute landmark for storytelling in video games. Joel and Ellie’s journey across a post-apocalyptic United States provides players with heart-wrenching experiences that are packed to the brim with thrills and heartfelt character moments. But another aspect of the games that is noteworthy is the combat encounters. The combat is incredibly engaging and offers players a fun challenge. The games give them all the tools necessary to succeed in their desired playstyle, with a wide range of upgradeable weapons and attributes that give Joel an edge in stealth, melee, and shooting. The Last of Us Part 2 improved the combat system, giving Ellie different abilities and an even deadlier arsenal. However, one fan might have come up with a way to make Ellie even more unstoppable in The Last of Us Part 3.

Surviving The Last of Us takes wit, willpower, and perhaps, most importantly, weaponry. Here are the best weapons players have at their disposal.

A user on Reddit named The-golden-guy brought up the interesting idea of Ellie having the ability to make and use spore bombs in a future Last of Us game. The effects of this weapon would be devastating for enemies. Many of the initial responses were people negating the idea by claiming that it would only cause more problems for players, as they would then have to deal with more infected. However, The-golden-guy clarifies their stance by explaining that the spore bomb would serve more as a trap to aid Ellie in stealth, as it would stun and scare enemies, leaving them vulnerable to attack.

The idea makes sense because Ellie is immune to the cordyceps virus, so the spores wouldn’t affect her in any way. It’s a unique way for her to take advantage of her immunity—a useful edge that she has over her enemies. Ellie has used her immunity to gain the upper hand a couple of times before, but this would be on a whole different level were it to be implemented in the next game.

Not much is known about the next Last of Us sequel at this time, but considering that series co-creator Neil Druckmann has gone on record saying he’s already got ideas about where the story could go next, it’s likely that The Last of Us Part 3 will be made at some point in the future. In the meantime, fans can look forward to an imminent remaster of The Last of Us 2 and the next season of the HBO series.
