An incredibly talented fan of The Last of Us spent over 30 long hours building a handmade diorama of a Clicker head, and the results are just as impressive as they are terrifying. Hailed by many as one of the best horror titles in gaming, The Last of Us brought a terrifying new enemy to the horror genre with Clickers, birthing a new fear of gruesome fungal infections for some who played the game.

When The Last of Us was first released back in 2013, it presented an entirely new spin on zombie-like enemies. Instead of the mind-altering virus that was popularized by 28 Days Later, The Last of Us used a fungal infection from Cordyceps as the fearsome genesis of its sickness. There are many stages of the Cordyceps infection that changes an afflicted person's behavior and appearance, but one of the most terrifying of these stages is a Clicker. At this stage, a person becomes covered in the fungus and is incredibly fast and aggressive.

An amazing artist on Reddit known as LouisvilleHart94 shared their terrifyingly beautiful handmade diorama to The Last of Us subreddit. LouisvilleHart94 spent over 30 hours creating a replica of the decapitated Clicker head. Although Clickers are absolutely horrifying, there is a strange beauty to their colorful fungal markings as well, making it a perfect muse for a piece of artwork.

The artist in question used a variety of different mediums to bring this grotesque work to life. The head itself was sculpted using polymer clay and then painted with acrylics. The background used in the diorama is a screenshot taken directly from the game itself. Everything is encased in a clear acrylic box that has a light switch in the back that triggers some overhead lighting, so it can even be displayed in the dark. Clickers are a challenging enemy, but they're also an incredible addition to the horror genre, so it's only natural that LouisvilleHart94 would want to pay tribute to them.

With there hopefully being a third The Last of Us game in the future, there's no telling how much more terrifying those infected with the Cordyceps will get. The heart-stopping Rat King encounter in The Last of Us Part 2 demonstrated just how powerful the infection can grow, making the Clickers seem like a cakewalk. However, Clickers are the most iconic stage of infected in the world of The Last of Us, and LouisvilleHart94 did an incredible job replicating one of the most popular figures from the series.

The Last of Us is available now for PC, PS3, PS4, and PS5.
