The Last of Us 2 is a surprisingly big game, featuring some wide-open sections with tons of collectibles scattered throughout. Because of that, The Last of Us 2 features an option to replay chapters, which should help players go back through and find what they need without having to replay the entire game. However, there will be a little bit of digging in the menus to find the option.
Replaying chapters is unlocked straight away, so players won't have to complete an entire playthrough before journeying back in. Plus, the menu breaks down how many of The Last of Us 2's collectibles a player has found or missed, making it easier to decide which chapter to replay for collectible hunters.
To replay chapters in The Last of Us 2, players simply need to navigate to the story portion of the main menu. Below the "new game" and "load game" options, players should see another labeled "chapters." From there, players just need to select which chapter they wish to replay. That will load each checkpoint a player has completed in a chapter too, so they should be able to dive in pretty much wherever.
This feature should make it far easier to unlock the game's Platinum Trophy, giving players specific jumping-off points to hunt down collectibles, which The Last of Us 2 features dozens of. The game is littered with documents, trading cards, and more, and given how open-ended certain sections are, there's a very high chance players missed something the first time through.
The collectibles range from subtle nods to the first Last of Us to addressing Naughty Dog's crunch culture, so anyone with a soft spot in their heart for the franchise will want to search the game from top to bottom, which is often a rewarding experience in The Last of Us 2.
It is worth noting, however, that Last of Us 2 features a new game plus mode, which allows players to carry over their progress to a new game. That means it isn't strictly necessary to replay the game a chapter at a time, though chapter select is still a convenient feature for those that want to use it, especially anyone looking to earn every Last of Us 2 trophy.
