The next installment in the popular The Jackbox Party Pack series, The Jackbox Party Pack 9, officially has a release date directly from developers Jackbox Games, and it's coming sooner than fans may be expecting. More details about TheJackbox Party Pack 9 of the game have also been revealed, as well as some information from the developers on why the release date for the game was not revealed until now.The Jackbox Party Pack series has been bringing friends and families together for all kinds of crazy mini-games that are played via input on mobile devices, computers, or tablets since 2014. According to the developers, there was an almost 1,000 percent increase in sales for the series from March to May 2020, likely due to the COVID-19 Pandemic lockdowns. Sales have leveled off since, but the series still has a strong player-base, so many fans were awaiting this announcement. While the mini-games contained within The Jackbox Party Pack 9 have been known since the end of August, a specific release date was not revealed until near the end of September.The announcement of the release date for the game was posted on the game's official website and a tweet by the official game account. The Jackbox Party Pack 9 will be released on October 20. In the posting made to the game's website, written by Brooke Hofer, the developers listed some questions that they wanted to address in the post. The biggest one is why it took so long to share a release date. The developer's reason for the release date wait was that they have a speedy annual release cycle, so the time between submission to game platforms and release is quick. Another The Jackbox Party Pack game called Jackbox Party Starter was released earlier this year as well.
The post to Twitter also confirms that a 10 percent discount for the Steam version of the game will be available if U.S. players pre-order the game now. The discount can be obtained by buying the Steam code for the game through the game's website, or by pre-ordering directly on Steam. The Jackbox Party 9 will have five new games and a few new features, like being able to kick players from the lobby and the games to ensure livestreams and public events are not compromised.
While the next entry of the series has been confirmed for yet another October release, the franchise saw the compilation of a few different games from earlier The Jackbox Party Pack entries when Jackbox Party Starter was released earlier this year with new features, such as subtitles. Hopefully, the developers continue to add improvements to the experience and new games.
The Jackbox Party Pack 9 will release for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 20.
