On Thursday, December 6, the Game Awards will occur, with everything from Game of the Year to Content Creator of the Year being selected. Speaking of Game of the Year, its nominees include Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Celeste, God of War, Spider-Man, Monster Hunter World, and Red Dead Redemption 2, with God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2 receiving the most nominations at the prestigious event.

Still, beyond finding out which games won which categories, the event usually has some interesting events such as the Orchestra going on too. Beyond that, the Game Awards is an excellent venue for game reveals and announcements, with this year set to top even last year.

In fact, according to host Geoff Keighley, more than 10 game reveals are coming for the first time during this event. He went on to say how honored he was that so many developers worked on something secretly to reveal at the Game Awards. Of course, depending on the games revealed, this could really take the cake.

As noted above, not only are 10 games being revealed, but updates on existing titles are coming too. This somewhat gives credence to the circulating rumor that Death Stranding and others will receive release dates during the Game Awards ceremony. If this proves to be true, especially in conjunction with 10 new game reveals, it is definitely shaping up to a be a larger-than-life event.

If it stopped there, it would be still be a dream come true for many, but there's even more. Gamers will not simply need to sit and wait to see what's coming next week because teases for the Game Awards and the game reveals will begin soon, once again according to Geoff Keighley. With this coming straight from the man himself, all of this might as well be considered bonafide fact, with many hoping that the event will feature some Metroid Prime 4 gameplay.

The Game Awards 2018 airs on December 6, 2018, at 9:00 PM ET / 6:00 PM PT.
