The First Descendant ensures each player has unique experiences with the various Descendants so that the game remains replayable over time. With so many Descendants, each team in The First Descendant also has the capability of being original and can play out missions differently than others.

1 Lepic

Lepic in The First Descendant

When first starting in The First Descendant, players will have the opportunity to choose from the starter Descendant characters. Lepic is one of those; he is one of the most popular choices at that.

Lepic is an all-rounder combatant who uses his prosthetic arm and the power of grenades to overwhelm different enemies on the many missions he will be sent on. Lepic's four skills all surround the fact that he is a soldier with the job of staying alive as long as possible while inflicting as much damage as possible.

2 Ajax

Ajax and his skills in The First Descendant

Ajax is a second choice for beginners in The First Descendant as one of the starter fighters that fans can choose from. Unlike the other two, Ajax is a true tank/powerhouse that players will use to get right up on enemies and destroy them with devastating blows.

Ajax helps lead the way for teams to strategize on mission-based locations. This is done by placing barriers or simply by using Ajax to land AOE attacks that blow enemies away.

3 Viessa

Viessa in The First Descendant

Viessa is the third and final option for starter players when choosing their first Descendant. Viessa is a bit lighter than the other two characters, as she relies on debuffing enemies and attacking from vantage points. Though she may lack defensive traits, Viessa makes up for it with her incredible skills revolving around the ice element.

She can attack opponents with ice, slow them down, and even completely freeze hostiles. One of Viessa's finest skills is called Frost Road, which allows her to create a pathway of ice as she runs around. This boosts her speed slightly and freezes enemies that walk over the pathway.

4 Jayber

Jayber and his skills in The First Descendant

Jayber is essentially The First Descendant's cyber-warfare soldier. Fitted with technological armor and gear, Jayber makes use of different utilities to fight against The Vulgus. There are two different turrets that Jayber can activate on the battlefield:

The Assault Turret, which focuses on DPS, and the Medical Turret, which heals allies and distracts enemies. Jayber is one of the most unique characters in The First Descendant, making for a prominent choice for those who enjoy both attacking and defending.

5 Sharen

Sharen in The First Descendant

Sharen is the result of a severe assault by The Vulgus, rendering her body almost entirely mutilated. Luckily, she was saved by the advancements in technology, and she now uses her new cyborg body to fight back against those who endanger Earth.

Sharen, much like Bunny, has an electricity-themed skillset that she uses to fight her opponents up close. She has access to various electric blades that deal incredible DPS, making Sharen one of the best damage-based Descendants.

6 Gley

Gley in The First Descendant

Gley is definitely one of the more unique characters in The First Descendant (which says a lot, considering that all Descendants are certainly unique). Gley used to be a military surgeon before her daughter, who served as a pupil under Ajax, was kidnapped by The Vulgus.

While her daughter's whereabouts remain a mystery, Gley uses her specializations in medical technology to help combat The Vulgus. Gley's skills revolve around the idea that the more she risks, the more harm she'll deal out.

7 Blair

Blair and his skills in The First Descendant

No RPG would be fit without some sort of pyromancy available for players to utilize, which is where Blair comes in. Blair was a very passionate cook who had surrendered himself to a blazing fire after attempting to save ingredients in an operation site. But rather than perishing to the intense heat, Blair was able to wield fire at his hands.

Since then, Blair has used his special ability to conjure fire to fight Earth's threats. Blair specializes in dealing damage over time, which pairs fantastically with other some other Descendants.

8 Bunny

Bunny in The First Descendant

Bunny is one of the very first Descendants that will be introduced to players at the start of the game. During the game's tutorial, which is canonically a critical mission, Bunny and the player encounter the leader of The Vulgus, who ruins their plans and unleashes a GraveWalker.

Bunny's powers become apparent in this section as she uses her lightning-fast speed and electricity-based powers to attack The Vulgus and help defeat the GraveWalker. Bunny is easily the fastest Descendant in The First Descendant, which is an amazing co-op title and can land devastating attacks while gathering power.

9 Freyna

Freyna in The First Descendant

Freyna is very similar to Blair in the fact that they are both primarily offensive characters who deal damage over time. Rather than wield the power of flame, though, Freyna uses poison to destroy The Vulgus.

Freyna's hatred for The Vulgus fuels her ambition to pry them out of the universe, as The Vulgus had turned her partner into a venomous monster. Freyna had to take the monster out herself, and since then, she has been able to safely handle poison, as her body even secretes toxic substances.

10 Valby

Valby in The First Descendant

Valby is just about the only Descendant in The First Descendant that focuses on AOE skills rather than specific points of harm. Like many of the other Descendants, Valby also wields an elemental power to combat The Vulgus: The element of water.

Valby is more than capable of teleporting with water-based portals, as well as completely turning her body into water (allowing her to move through enemies while moving quickly). Valby is a great character for players who like splitting damage up between enemies rather than dishing out higher injury on a single target.

11 Kyle

Kyle in The First Descendant

Much like Ajax, Kyle is a tank-like fighter who is capable of taking on more wear than other Descendants. Unlike Ajax, however, is Kyle's Arche that lets him manipulate metal. With his unique plasma-powered suit, Kyle can combat up-close with enemies, as well as fly around in the sky.

When Kyle lands from flying, he deals a good amount of AOE damage. With a specified vendetta against The Vulgus, Kyle fights against them in his fallen comrades' names.

The First Descendant will be available on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One & Series X/S, and PC. The release date is TBD.
