Fans of Embark Studios online shooter The Finals call for changes to be made to the Light Build's cloaking skill, which many feel has become too powerful with limited ways to effectively counter it. After experiencing a positive beta period, The Finals shadow launched during The Game Awards 2023, giving all players a chance to check out the free to play online shooter. Taking on a live service model, Embark Studios continues to add and tweak the overall experience, giving fans hope that some of the rougher edges now will soon be smoothed out.

Although The Finals have already smashed through impressive milestones, Embark Studios continues to battle with one of the biggest problems with the game. Cheaters plague matches, leaving fans of The FInals begging for improvements to the anti-cheat system which have yet to curb the rise of aimbotting. In fact, many players have seemingly found that cheating in The Finals gets worse the higher up in the rankings players go. While Embark continues to look into anti-cheating methods, players have now called another skill into question.

A wave of cheaters is disrupting The Finals, frustrating players and raising questions about the effectiveness of anti-cheat measures.

In a new thread on The Finals subreddit, a user named chowmingbigboi posted a short clip of a firefight during a round of Bank It. As they head over to pick up a vault on the ground, they're suddenly attacked from a direction where there doesn't appear to be anything. Unable to counter the damage they're taking, the player explodes into a shower of coins, only to see a cloaked player appear suddenly and run off. Chowmingbigboi expands upon the video indicating that they're unable to see these cloaked players and without any footstep audio, they're nearly impossible to counter, with only certain light sources helping.

The cloaking ability is an exclusive skill of the Light Build character in The Finals, one way the low health character can stay alive a bit longer. Still, it seems many players agree that the cloaking is a little too powerful, with comments on the post calling for some sort of adjustment, if not an outright nerf. Some have offered possible suggestions, such as increasing the distortion audio levels when the cloaked player is standing still or even impacting a proximity area seem to be popular takes so far. Regardless, it seems most players within the community are looking for some sort of change, as most feel the cloaking ability is nearly impossible to effectively counter.

Alternatively, some fans are now experimenting with some of the more overlooked or weapons that many have labeled as being underpowered. Specifically, the Goo Gun has seen a rise in popularity in The Finals lately, as fans have found creative ways to utilize it like one player who used it to form a barricade to complete a cashout, preventing enemy players from being able to breach the room entirely.
