A huge free base-game update for The Elder Scrolls Online is now live on PC and Mac, however, console players will have to wait until September 5 in order to be able to enjoy all the new content. Besides the usual bug fixes and game balance adjustments, Update 39 brings several quality-of-life enhancements to the gigantic continent of Tamriel and some brand-new PvP rewards for the most skilled Elder Scrolls Online combatants.

First released in 2014, The Elder Scrolls Online can be considered one of the most unique MMORPGs on the market. One important thing that sets it apart is its ability to be played from both a first-person and third-person perspective, allowing gamers to choose their preferred gameplay perspective. Since 2014, Elder Scrolls Online has received numerous expansions and updates that have helped the game expand and cultivate its player base. While ESO’s expansions must be purchased with real money, most of the game’s updates are free of charge and the MMO’s latest patch is no exception to that rule.

One of the most interesting pieces of content included in the highly anticipated Elder Scrolls Online Update 39 comes in the form of PvP rewards as three new powerful sets of monster masks (Colovian Highlands Genera, Nibenay Bay Battlereeve, and Jerall Mountains Warchief) can be bought with Alliance Points from the Cyrodiil Elite Gear Vendors. In addition, The Unfeathered Battle Body and Face Markings are available via Gladiator’s Rucksacks, which can be obtained via dailies from the Cyrodiil Conquest Mission Board.

Another intriguing feature is the Enhanced Quest System, which is meant to help new players feel less overwhelmed by the sheer amount of quests that can be found in The Elder Scrolls Online. The frequency of missions beginners receive from main story NPCs will be greatly reduced, as they will now be delivered progressively when players level up. Gamers will also know if the navigator NPCs will teleport them to a quest objective location, via the “door” pin shown above the relevant NPCs.

Furthermore, ESO’s Update 39 targets the inventory system in an attempting to minimize its clutter. Many Crown Store items will now be able to be stacked together by selecting the “Stack All Items” option, and new visual effects will better indicate which items can or cannot be sold to vendors. Moreover, gamers who take enjoyment in designing their own intricate homes in Tamriel have not been forgotten by the updates. The latest patch refines the Home Editor by allowing creative players to insert furnishings directly from their Inventory or Collectibles interface. On top of that, Crown Store furnishings can now be previewed before being purchased, an addition that has been much-requested by many Elder Scrolls Online players throughout the years.

The Elder Scrolls Online is available for Mac, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
