The Elder Scrolls 6 may not have a set location yet, but if it takes place in Hammerfell, then it could bring players to a unique landscape for the series. After spending the last decade in the cold tundras and forests of Skyrim, the land of Hammerfell would offer players a completely different set of sights to behold. In several ways, adventuring through the deserts of Hammerfell would introduce new kinds of encounters and hazards for players to overcome. Hammerfell has been rumored as a location for The Elder Scrolls 6, and it deserves serious consideration.

Hammerfell is best known as the homeland of the Redguards of The Elder Scrolls series. It is a land that has seen many wars, including battles against the Thalmor that bedeviled Skyrim in the most recent main series release. The region has been explored in past games, but aside from Elder Scrolls Online, the last time a proper adventure took players to the region was The Elder Scrolls 2: Daggerfall back in 1996. That leaves a gap of over two decades without players getting another full look at the region. Elder Scrolls 6 may be the time to finally reintroduce players to Hammerfell.

The Agriculture Of Hammerfell Would Give Elder Scrolls 6 A Unique Flavor

Hammerfell's geography is rather arid, with much of the land consisting of deserts while the many famous locations in Skyrim featured nothing of the sort. Despite the focus on sandy areas, though, there is still a fair amount of variety. There are a few ports towns near the seas, as well as some impressive mountains. Some tropical jungles exist as well, and they are teeming with wildlife. The geographical diversity of Hammerfell would make it an interesting region to visit, and there's no questioning that an adventure there would be unique. Thankfully, many of the same skills tested in Skyrim could also see good use in Hammerfell.

Hammerfell's flora and fauna would likely consist of specimens more attuned to desert climates. New animals for the Elder Scrolls series based on scorpions and coyotes could be among the region's indigenous threats. Players may even see mice or fennec foxes running about. Being in the desert doesn't mean that the player will be starved of food, though. In addition to cooking monsters, edible plants such as agave and prickly pears could be harvested, eaten, and cooked into salads and other dishes, giving characters an all-important source of nutrition and energy. That's even before including the bountiful fruits that could be found in Hammerfell's oases and jungles.

Not only could Hammerfell add a more unique setting for Elder Scrolls adventures, it could also bring new survival challenges. The release of Survival Mode in a Skyrim update challenged players to remain well-fed and hydrated, similar to Fallout: New Vegas' Hardcore Mode, and the same could be done in Hammerfell. The addition of locations such as the Alik'r Desert would add an extra twist to Survival Mode. Long stretches of Hammerfell's desert could be even more difficult to overcome than Skyrim's mountain ranges, requiring players to conserve water and avoid overheating with places to rest few and far between.

Hammerfell is one of the most interesting places in Tamriel, and The Elder Scrolls has spent far too much time away from a region with so much potential. The debate over where Elder Scrolls 6 will take place is a fierce one, but Hammerfell is one of the best candidates, if not the best. The distinctive sights of Hammerfell, from the vast deserts to the tropical jungles, would ensure that Elder Scrolls 6 was a memorable adventure. Hammerfell is not only a beautiful region, as it is also the perfect choice for the location of The Elder Scrolls 6.
