At the latest edition of Ubisoft Forward, the company announced that it's bringing the Dark Zone to The Division Resurgence. Since its inception in 2016, Tom Clancy's The Division has been growing a decent fan base. As the company looks to introduce more content to the popular franchise, the reemergence of the Dark Zone comes as one of Ubisoft's latest additions to The Division.

Although the Dark Zone has been featured before, this is the first time it will make an appearance in the mobile format. The Division Resurgence was first announced in July, where fans were able to take part in a closed alpha test. It was one of several Ubisoft franchises to go mobile, along with the likes of Rainbow Six and even Assassin's Creed. Now, with the latest announcement, players can expect the closed beta of The Division Resurgence to kick off soon.

Following this year's Ubisoft Forward event, the publisher revealed that the Dark Zone will be a session-based activity on The Division Resurgence. Gamers can choose to either take part solo or as a team of up to three players and will go up against other matchmade opponents. As with The Division 2, one of the game's core features will also see players collecting and retrieving loot. However, in the Dark Zone, fans will obtain contaminated loot which should be extracted and decontaminated prior to equipping and using any of it.

As per the reveal, during a Dark Zone playthrough, if a player dies before extraction a portion of the collected loot will be dropped, allowing others to pick it up. The announcement also revealed that players would have the option of going rogue during a match. This means any gamer will have the option to take on players of the same team, though this rogue status can be removed if players change their minds later. Amid all this, what Ubisoft didn't reveal is a release date for the upcoming game. Nevertheless, The Division Resurgence has already opened sign-ups for the closed beta, which is scheduled for this fall.

While Ubisoft looks to capitalize on the mobile gaming market with Resurgence, it's also releasing more content for PC and console owners. The company officially revealed the much-anticipated The Division: Heartland, a free-to-play entry in the franchise. Additionally, Ubisoft has confirmed that more content is on the way for The Division 2. So all in all, it appears to be an exciting period for fans of the franchise.

The Division Resurgence is currently in development for Android and iOS.
