The Devil in Me is the final season 1 anthology episode by Supermassive Games, featuring a less supernatural villain that poses an equally deadly threat to the cast of characters. This villainous deceit is showcased shockingly well in the latest Dark Pictures chapter, where newlyweds Jeff and Marie check into a hotel that houses a sinister plot.

Since The Devil in Me's first chapter features tutorials of gameplay elements, first-time players may be getting to grips with the requirements and not realize that certain choices can still affect the inevitable deaths of Jeff and Marie. This clear guide mentions the steps required to get the easily-missable trophy.

How to Get the 'Until Death Us Do Part 2' Trophy/Achievement

Purchase the Rose Water

As we are introduced to the false protagonists, Jeff and Marie, knowledgeable fans may also recognize the hotel owner's name, 'H.H Holmes', for its true crime connotations. Later in the chapter, he appears to kill both the newlyweds, but the secret achievement can still be obtained.

When presented with the game's first seemingly innocuous choice, Marie can choose between two items she'll use for her bath. One is a small case, and the other is a glass bottle. Choosing either item will have a simple function that doesn't appear to change much, but this comes to a literal head in the climax of the chapter after Marie takes her bath.

After picking up the bottle, the player will see a "Bearings" update, as Dark Pictures show an impactful decision was made. After this scene, the happy couple heads to their room but spies a door marked "PRIVATE."

Here, some more button prompt tutorials appear, but Jeff and Marie will still be found by the hotel owner and escorted to their room.

Beat All QTEs

Once Jeff and Marie have a pillow fight (which serves as a tutorial for the aiming QTEs), Marie will have a bath, and players will take control of Jeff. Walking down the corridor's bends, Jeff remarks that the path seems different before approaching the end of the corridor.

Once Jeff tries to get close to the door, the floor judders and gives way, revealing it to be a trap door with spikes below. A QTE appears, which allows Jeff to escape unharmed and return to Marie to try and warn her.

Cutting back to the bathroom, we are treated to a cutscene where Holmes enters the room with a blade and attacks Marie. An opportunity presents itself where Marie can attack Holmes with the rose water bottle, stunning him in time for Jeff to arrive.

Jeff will confront Holmes but then try to escape from him in a side room, failing to see the pipes leading into it that spew poison gas. After this revelation, a fatally injured Marie will be given another button-mash QTE prompt, which needs to be done before the timer runs out.

If done correctly, Marie will be able to crawl toward Jeff and end the scene with a heartbreaking double death as the false protagonists die in front of each other. Thankfully, the trophy/achievement will pop up afterward as a crumb of comfort for players seeking out all endings and secrets in The Devil in Me.

The Dark Pictures: The Devil in Me was released on November 18, 2022, for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
