The Day Before, being developed by Fntastic, is a survival MMO that has already begun to made waves with just a few trailers. It promises an expansive open world to explore that includes vast rural areas and detailed urban environments. Within this dystopian world, players must gather as many resources as they can and learn to think quickly, as there are dangers around every corner. Whether it be unfriendly survivors or flesh-eating infected, there are always new challenges awaiting.

With the hype around the game slowly building up, Fntastic has been releasing more information about The Day Before. Although the game was initially announced for PC only, console players will be happy to know that the game will also be making its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

The Day Before was initially set to launch in 2021. However, with the ongoing pandemic, it has been delayed to June 2022. The studio had initially planned to release the game on PC alone, but expressed interest in porting the game to consoles too. In an interview with Gamingbolt in March, Fntastic co-founders Ed Gotovtsev and Aisen Gotovtsev said they would "not be able to port the game to your NES," but they were considering other console ports. A trailer released later revealed that the game will be available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

It is understandable that the game will only be available on next-gen consoles considering the scope of what is being promised. The developer states players will be able to travel across the map without encountering loading screens. Fntastic apparently has very ambitious plans for the game and, as the co-founders said, the studio is "constantly improving the game, including graphics and animations."

Released trailers show that The Day Before will have an intricate looting and inventory system. If players cross paths with hostile survivors and manage to come out on top, they can loot their fallen foes for clothing and other resources. There are also detailed environments to explore and scavenge in, including a glitzy mall. Cars can be used to travel across the large map and take players from dense cities to the open countryside, but any vehicles found will need repairs if damaged. Guns will also have customization options, which should come in handy when players go out searching for supplies. In addition to human enemies, players will also have to contend against the zombie-like infected that crave flesh and will attack in hordes if players make too much noise.

When players are not undertaking the perilous task of gathering resources, they can relax in survivor colonies. Here, players will be able to trade resources, and the survivor colonies will also be a place for players to communicate with other users, talk to NPC inhabitants, and accept various tasks. Though the game does take obvious influences from hit survival games and zombie titles of recent years, including The Last of Us and The Division, it also seems eager to take the best elements from these titles to create something all its own.

Although the release date for the PC version of The Day Before has been announced, the same has not been said for console versions. For players who are still skeptical about whether The Day Before is for them, Fntastic said that there will be a pre-release beta, so that's something to look forward to.

The Day Before launches June 21, 2022 for PC, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions also in development.
