The CEO of Fntastic, the developer behind The Day Before, has decided to deactivate his Twitter account, and Fntastic's YouTube page has also been closed. In response to a surge of negative reviews and comments from The Day Before players, the studio implemented these significant actions, intensifying the disappointment expressed within the player community.

The Day Before was the most anticipated game on Steam, surpassing its competitors in popularity by more than double. However, since its early access release on December 7, the game has faced a turbulent path marked by overwhelmingly negative reviews and a rapid decline in player count. Although the game initially promised a journey in a post-apocalyptic MMO survival setting on the US East Coast after a deadly pandemic, player reviews indicate a failure to live up to these promises, resulting in accusations of being a scam.

After a long and controversial road, The Day Before is set to release this week, and developer Fntastic has a message for critics.

The Co-Founder and CEO of Fntastic, Eduard Gotovtsev, has deleted his Twitter account. Furthermore, the developer has completely wiped its YouTube channel as well. The sudden disappearance follows The Day Before studio's closure announcement just four days after the game's early access release on Steam, leaving players with an even increased sense of having been cheated by Fntastic. This swift shutdown was met with skepticism, with players expressing concerns that it might be Fntastic attempting to distance itself from the game's failure. With comments such as “Taking the money and running, eh?”, players expressed on social media how disappointed they are about this whole situation.

According to the studio, the company is closing due to the overwhelmingly negative reception of The Day Before. Fntastic mentioned its initial hope that future updates could address player concerns, but financial constraints now hinder any such efforts. Players, in addition to voicing concerns about unfulfilled promises and technical issues, are now seeking refunds, adding to the accusations of a scam and allegations that the studio is attempting to avoid accountability.

Another factor that can explain Fntastic's intention to disappear is The Day Before witnessed a staggering 90% drop in player count shortly after its release, showcasing the game's negative reception. This significant decline indicates fundamental issues with the gameplay experience and underscores the challenging situation the game faces.

The removal of Fntastic's online presence adds another layer to the unfolding story of The Day Before. While developers have announced that the game's servers will remain operational for now, the future remains uncertain. Players who have already purchased the game and couldn't apply for a refund are left in limbo regarding the fate of their recently acquired game.
