As the game moves closer to its release later this month, Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games have debuted a new trailer for The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan. But instead of highlighting the story, this one takes a closer look at how friends can play together with the new Movie Night mode.

With this mode's trailer, The Dark Pictures' development team members discuss how up to five players can take part of the fun, passing around the controller and taking part in co-op fashion as they fulfill the roles of each character and progress through the story, in an effort to stay alive. If they can, of course.

While talking in the video, game director Tom Heaton explains that the feature actually turned out to be a big hit with Supermassive's previous release, Until Dawn -- even though it was never officially included. So this time around, the team wanted to make sure it was actually a feature in The Dark Pictures, complete with customization.

Players can actually go in and select which characters they want to be within the game, and then name themselves after their characters. Then, when their turn comes up within the game, an on-screen prompt will appear, indicating that it's their turn to play. Then when it's the next player's turn, they'll receive an indication, and so on.

Heaton also explains that this system will come with its fair share of rewards. At the end of each stage, the game will recognize what players did within the game, like who reacted the quickest, and who made the best possible decisions after each round. It's an innovative feature that will help players push forward, instead of simply making rash decisions to get through their turn.

With that, there can be consequences. If a player does make foolhardy mistakes and their character dies, they will have to sit out the rest of the game. So gamers should keep that in mind before one jumps into those lethal choices!

This feature should make The Dark Pictures a real treat for streamers, as well as those looking to share their experiences with others. And hopefully it'll be added to future games in the series as well.

The Dark Pictures: Man of Medan releases on August 30 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
