In The Crew: Motorfest, players are thrown right into the action. While this is fantastic for giving players freedom and immediate access to the game's many systems, it can also be a little overwhelming. This is especially true when trying to pull off some crucial tricks on the track, such as drifting.

Drifting is a very important part of many racing games, and The Crew: Motorfest is no exception. Being able to make sharp turns and glide stylishly around corners is both a valuable tool and very fun. This guide will cover the basics of drifting.

How to Drift in The Crew: Motorfest

The Crew Motorsport_Japan

When it comes down to it, all players need to do to start a drift is enter a turn at high speed, steer into the turn, and tap the brakes or the handbrake. The problem lies in timing and executing the drift without crashing into something or coming to a dead stop.

When attempting a drift around a turn, players should keep the accelerator pressed until right before they begin turning. As soon as they begin turning, they should release the accelerator and tap the brakes for a second to kick out the back of the car. This should begin a drift, which players can then control by steering further into the turn or steering away from the turn to straighten out.

To keep a drift going, players need to make sure they don't turn too far in the direction of the turn since this will turn the car sideways and likely bring the drift to a halt. It's also important not to steer away from the turn too far since this will cause the drift to end once the car straightens out.

Players will want to keep revving the car to maintain speed while drifting and use the steering to keep the delicate balance between spinning out and ending the drift. The regular brake is generally the safer option for initiating a drift, especially when the turn isn't too sharp, since the handbrake tends to result in a much sharper turn and a greater risk of spinning out.

When drifting correctly, players will see smoke coming off their tires. Additionally, vehicles with low grip are much better at drifting and thus much easier to drift.

Air Drifting

Players flying over Hawaii in planes can get in on the action, too, since it is possible to perform an "Air Drift" by sharply turning their plane to one side. This will cause the plane to "slide" through the air and count as a stunt for stringing together combos.

This can be easily performed by using the rudder controls to turn the plane without tilting the wings, though it's arguably the easiest type of drift to pull off in the entire game.

The Crew: Motorfest is available for PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna.
