The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game set in space, with the usual array of alien monsters trying to kill the player as they try to work out what went wrong. By finding some very well-hidden collectibles, The Callisto Protocol's mystery of Kallipolis will be unveiled and give players a trophy/achievement too.

Throughout the game, data-bios can be collected from deceased space crew members that add more detail to the game's backstory. Most of them give gradual hints as to what caused the Black Iron Prison biophage outbreak and two of them need to be acquired in order to unlock this mystery.

Getting a Data-Bio

During gameplay, it is possible to find audio recordings of deceased crew members who used to work at the Black Iron Prison site. These audio recordings resemble grey-black cogs that emit blue light and shimmer to catch the attention of players. Another variety includes Data-Bios found in dead bodies located around the damaged prison.

With the spanner shiv given to Jacob in Chapter 2, players can extract Data-Bios from certain bodies when the interaction prompt appears. Doing so will yield a data file that contains a biography about that crew member, plus the occasional audio file that gives information about how they died or who they were.

These serve as the main collectibles for The Callisto Protocol, as well as providing more story context about biophages and the terrifying atmosphere. However, it is very easy to miss a few, especially the two data-bios required to obtain the elusive trophy/achievement. Their locations are outlined below, with steps on how to reach them while avoiding ambushes from biophage mutants.

Data-Bio: Duncan Cole (Secret Room 1)

Chapter 3 corridor exploration for Jacob in The Callisto Protocol

The first data-bio is found during the third chapter, "Aftermath," while Jacob is trying to locate the medical facility. Two pathways with unlocked doors can be found, both of which lead downwards. The left one has several mutants and a few item pickups, but it also hides a secret room.

After picking the left doorway, go straight ahead down the dark corridor until arriving at a locked door. Thankfully, this door can be opened by sabotaging the security mechanism box with the spanner shiv. This gives access to the room, as well as a vent crawlspace with a red light.

This crawlspace is quite long and has numerous turns, but there are no biophage threats here for now. Continue crawling to the end, where Jacob will emerge in another dark area barely lit by blue light. Players can use their pistol to point a directional light if they are having difficulty navigating.

Moving forward reveals this area to be a descending staircase, which leads to a hole in the floor that Jacob can jump down. This area has multiple directions to explore, but the Data-Bio is found down the left path with a shimmy space and blue light visible at the end.

After squeezing through the door, the Data-Bio can be found at the desk on the other side of the curious room. The red and gold decorations, coupled with the room's own existence, help set the scene for the audio recording that can be accessed in the player menu.

Data-Bio: Yannick Sage (Secret Room 2)

The second and final discovery required for this Callisto Protocol trophy/achievement can be located in Chapter 6, Below. Along with blind but dangerous enemies, Jacob can discover another secret room while attempting to locate the power reactor.

After climbing a ladder up to the above floor, the player would ordinarily go right towards the power reactor. However, directly in front of Jacob is a large niche in the wall, which he can shimmy through when moved towards it.

This shimmy space is also quite long to get through, but at the other end, Jacob can move left through the dark caverns (crouching when needed) until he reaches more holes in the ground. Fall down them, and the player will be in a dank disgusting corridor with the familiar biophage sacs growing on the floor.

Stamping on these with the ground stomp button can be done to put the player's mind at ease, but the first enemy ambush will appear after briefly shimmying through the corridor. One of the biophage mutants will suddenly break from the wall on the right and attack Jacob, so players should be ready with their weapons.

After some more crouching, another door will appear with the same gold symbol found in the previous secret room.

Squeezing through the gap on the right of the door will lead right into the second secret room, where another tentacle biophage will attack the player. Once that is killed, the other Data-Bio can be seen on the desk just like before, but the trophy/achievement should naturally appear after entering the second secret room.

The Callisto Protocol is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
