The long-awaited announcement regarding The Boys has finally arrived. During a day when Amazon Prime made several big announcements, it also announced the official release date for The Boys season 3.

For those who haven't watched the first two seasons, The Boys is based on a graphic novel of the same name that focuses on a world where superheroes are real. However, unlike DC and Marvel, the superheroes in The Boys aren't altruistic personalities who are saving lives simply because it's the right thing to do. These superheroes are doing what they do at the behest of a major corporation, and as the layers are peeled back, it shows that many of them are truly awful superpeople.

The next installment in the popular Amazon Prime series got the announcement about the official release date for season 3 through its official Twitter account. After months of learning bits and pieces about who would be joining The Boys and what they might look like, fans finally know they'll be able to watch the next season starting on June 3, 2022. In addition to the official release date, Amazon also laid out when people can expect to see each installment in the eight-episode run.

The first three episodes will all launch on the same day, June 3. After that first debut trifecta, each new episode will be released every Friday until July 8. While the titles of most of the episodes aren't yet known, Amazon did go out of its way to announce when fans can expect to see The Boys' "Herogasm" episode, which will air on June 24.

The Herogasm is well known as one of the biggest fan favorites in the graphic novel series, as it features a kind of convention when all the super-powered people in The Boys' universe get together for unprecedented levels of debauchery. Sex, drugs, and more than a few deaths are to be expected every year that this particular convention takes place. Amazon announced early on that fans would get to see this event take place in The Boys season 3.

In addition to the Herogasm convention, The Boys has been releasing bits and pieces about the upcoming season's plot, though showrunners have been keeping the big points under wraps. One of the biggest additions to the cast is Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, a kind of Captain America-type character who could be squaring off against The Homelander.

The Boys season 3 will launch on Amazon Prime on June 3, 2022.
