Now that season 3 of The Boys has officially wrapped, it is time for fans of the gory and outrageous superhero show to start processing everything that went down, especially in the season finale. There were plenty of twists and turns in the Amazon Prime Video series' season finale, but among them was one character death that has fans wondering if he might make a comeback, and the showrunners aren't ruling it out.

While The Boys has never been shy about killing off characters, it also hasn't been shy about letting the audience know that when it comes to "Supes," they're usually harder to kill off than people realize. Hardcore fans of the show are now wondering if that might mean despite the fact that Black Noir was gutted by Homelander, he might be able to make a comeback in The Boys season 4. While Eric Kripke is willing to allow that there might be a return of Black Noir, it likely wouldn't be in the way that people are hoping.

Collider reports that Kripke was clear that The Boys does not plan on following one very big plot point from the comics when it comes to Black Noir. In the graphic novels, Noir is actually a clone of Homelander and it later turns out that quite a bit of the bad stuff that Homelander thinks he did was actually Noir's doing. The Amazon series' creator thinks that would absolve its version of Homelander of too much and doesn't want to go that route. However, he added that Noir could come back in some fashion.

Kripke hinted that because there are only a few scenes where the audience sees Black Noir's face, there might be a chance to bring the character back but "recast him." In other words, someone else would take on the mantle of Black Noir. Kripke added that the actor who plays the character - Nathan Mitchell - could also be brought back onto the show as a different character. The Boys showrunner said that if Black Noir comes back in season 4, it would be "really fun" that he'd have to come back in season 4. However, the comments also make it sound like it's a bit of a longshot for that to happen.

It's a well-known trope in comics for different people to take on the mantle of specific superheroes. This was demonstrated on the screen most recently in Thor: Love and Thunder, and it could definitely mean that someone else will be wearing Black Noir's costume. Granted, The Boys is known for being twisty enough that Kripke's comments could also just be a smokescreen for the real plans for the character.
