The Black Phone and Sinister are both successful Blumhouse films with eerie villains, shocking stories, and endings that audiences can't stop thinking about. The movies are also memorable thanks to their well-written dialogue.

Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill wrote both films and some of the best quotes are from Ethan Hawke's characters The Grabber and writer Ellison Oswalt, although several other characters say some creepy and unforgettable lines as well.

The Grabber Takes Finney (The Black Phone)

"Would you hand me my hat? Yes, sir. I am a part-time magician."

Ethan Hawke as The Grabber in The Black Phone

Ethan Hawke's The Black Phone villain is ruthless and brutal. He loves playing a game called Naughty Boy with his victims and seems determined to capture every kid in his Denver neighborhood. When Finney (Mason Thames) is walking home from school one day, he comes across The Grabber, wearing a black outfit and holding black balloons. Before Finney knows what's happening, The Grabber tells him that he's a "part-time magician" and then pushes Finney into the van.

This quote is memorable as The Grabber often speaks with a vibrant flair for language, as if he's really enjoying the words that are coming out of his mouth. He also seems really chatty at times, which is rare for a horror villain.

Ashley Kills Her Family (Sinister)

"Don't worry, Daddy. I'll make you famous again."

Bughuul holding Ashley (Claire Foley) in Sinister

Sinister is considered the scariest movie according to science and Claire Foley's young character Ashley has a lot to do with that. The demon Bughuul takes over Ashley, who is also possessed by the spirit of Stephanie Stevenson, a young girl who was murdered along with her whole family. Ashley tells Ellison that she will ensure that he'll be well-known forever before she kills him and the rest of the family.

While some horror movie villains are bad at killing, Bughuul definitely excels at possessing people and ending their lives. Ellison figures out what has happened with horrible clarity and knows that this is it.

Gwen Has A Dream About The Grabber (The Black Phone)

"Please let the dreams be real!"

Finney and Gwen (Madeline McGraw) have a close sibling connection since they have had to protect each other because of their abusive dad Terrence (Jeremy Davies) who has a drinking problem. One of The Black Phone's scariest scenes is when Gwen has a dream about The Grabber taking children.

While Terrence hates that Gwen has these visions because her mother did and she took her own life, Gwen hopes that she'll be able to help save her brother and stop The Grabber from doing this ever again. Gwen's quote is strong and passionate, proving that she's tougher than she looks and that she wants to be actively involved in this investigation.

The Deputy Wants To Be Thanked In Ellison's Book (Sinister)

"Well, you know, I could be like, you know, your Deputy. So and so, you know, if you don't already have one."

The Deputy (James Ransone) in Sinister

Ellison has a few great conversations with the Deputy in Sinister, who is able to figure out the pattern that Bughuul follows. He realizes that he kills families who move into specific houses, which is bad news for the Oswalt family since they have just moved into a new home.

While Sinister is anything but a horror comedy and maintains a steady sense of tension throughout, the Deputy's quote is hilarious and sweet. He wants Ellison to thank him in the acknowledgements of the true crime book that he's planning to write about these cases. While this is the last thing that Ellison is thinking about since he's so freaked out, this is a funny and charming moment in an otherwise bone-chilling movie.

Ellison Wants To Write An Amazing True Crime Book (Sinister)

Ashley: "Are you gonna write a really good book this time so we can go home?"Ellison: "I'm gonna write the best book that anyone's ever read."

Sinister Ethan Hawke

Sinister is one of the most popular Blumhouse horror movies because it's just as emotional as it is scary. It's hard not to physically shudder watching Ellison investigate Bughuul, but it's also terrible that Ellison's own daughter kills him, his wife and his son.

When Ellison and Ashley are talking about the book that he's working on, they're both hopeful in different ways. Ellison hopes that his next book will be a huge success and that his family will be happy and healthy. Ashley wishes that he can finish the story quickly so they can move away as she's not happy in this new home. These quotes are actually incredibly sad as neither gets what they want since Bughuul takes over and Ashley kills her family. It's hard to imagine things going worse for this family.
