Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves' The Batman: Part 2 is scheduled to begin filming at the end of 2022. After The Batman was released, Warner Bros. did not immediately confirm a sequel. However, a sequel was eventually verified, and the production is moving forward with plenty of time until its release date.Christopher Nolan almost didn’t make The Dark Knight following Batman Begins, so it was nerve-racking while waiting for Warner Bros. to announce the sequel to The Batman amid its merger with Discovery, as there was no telling what the new Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav would do. Fortunately, The Batman: Part 2 is scheduled to release in 2025, paralleling the time between Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, which is not too long away, but not short enough for fans to worry about the sequel being rushed. At this point, multiple sources are stating when The Batman: Part 2 will begin filming.Production Weekly confirms The Batman: Part 2 will begin filming in November 2023. The Penguin is supposed to tie into The Batman: Part 2 and was scheduled to start filming this month, with rumors of a cameo from Pattinson's Batman. So, November would be enough time between now and then that attention could be given to each of these projects individually, especially with Reeves also producing The Penguin.
Reeves gave an update last month on The Batman: Part 2 script in collaboration with Mattson Tomlin by expressing that they “were deep in it.” So if the screenplay is in its finishing stages, it could be speculated that it would be done sometime in the summer to prepare for a November production. This would allow the crew and editing team almost two years to finish The Batman: Part 2 before the October release date in 2025, giving them more than enough time to create an excellent film. Luckily, Reeves' Bat-verse will not have to deal with the complicated nature of the DCU reboot, as The Batman franchise is self-contained under the DC Elseworlds label.
With Production reportedly taking place in November, casting details should be on the horizon. While there are no current details on the story, it would make sense for Harvey Dent to replace the previous deceased District Attorney in The Penguin or The Batman: Part 2. Villains have been tossed around by the cast and director, such as Pattinson expressing his desire to see the Court of Owls and Condiment King or Matt Reeves wanting to adapt a grounded Mr. Freeze. The latter may be more likely if the production date is any indication.
The Batman: Part 2 is scheduled to be released on October 3, 2025.
