The final screening of the That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime: Scarlet Bond film served as the announcement of a Spring 2024 premiere of the upcoming third season of That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime TV anime series. The opening of the Scarlet Bond film also served as the announcement of the third season as an upcoming anime project; however, last weekend saw the reveal of the expected 2024 broadcast via NTV and its affiliated networks.The third season was first announced through a visual teaser, with no further information. With the Scarlet Bond film's run now finished in Japan, the film continues its successful international run, earning an estimated $1.4 million in its US opening weekend. The franchise also announced an upcoming 3-episode ONA titled That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime: Coleus' Dream, which comes bundled with the Blu-Ray release of the second season of the anime.The That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime anime is based on Taiki Kawakami's manga adaptation of Fuse and Mitz Vah's original light novel series first published on the ShÅsetsuka ni NarÅ website on February 20, 2013, making 2023 the 10th anniversary of the franchise. The anime is an adaptation of the That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime manga, and the first season ran for 24 episodes from October 2018 to March 2019, with the second season running for two separate 12 episode cours from January to March 2021, and again from July to September 2021.Both seasons were produced by 8bit (BLUE LOCK, The Irregular at Magic High School), and Crunchyroll streamed both seasons as they aired, while Funimation produced an English dub for the series. The Scarlet Bond film was produced by the same studio behind the TV anime and opened in Japan on November 25.
The film opened in the UK and Ireland on January 18, Australia on January 19, the United States and Canada on January 20 and Mexico on January 26. Additional dates are yet to be announced, but the Scarlet Bond film is set to be made available in all major territories, with the rollout including the Middle East; countries in Europe; South Africa; as well as Central and South America.
The That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime franchise is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the original light novels by Fuse, and there have been a few events to commemorate the special milestone. Coleus' Dream is part two in the 10-year anniversary celebrations, and was a major story inspiration in Fuse's writing of the original story of the Scarlet Bond film. The franchise is in a very busy period as the Coleus Dream ONA is set to be released this Fall, while That Time I Got Reincarnated As a Slime season 3 is set to premiere in Spring 2024.
