An upcoming Xbox Game Pass day one release is partnering with All Elite Wrestling, leading to the first-ever Texas Chain Saw Massacre Death Match. This Wednesday on AEW Dynamite, the Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game will be advertised as part of a match between Jeff Hardy and Jeff Jarrett. How exactly the video game will tie into the match isn't entirely unclear, but it should be an exciting event both for AEW fans and those looking forward to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre on Xbox Game Pass.

TheTexas Chain Saw Massacre is an upcoming multiplayer video game from developer Sumo Digital and publisher Gun Interactive. Like Dead by Daylight and other asymmetrical horror multiplayer games, players will work together to take on terrifying foes that are out to hunt them down. It's based on the classic 1974 horror film of the same name, which introduced the now-infamous villain Leatherface. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game is scheduled to launch on August 18.

AEW officially announced plans for its promotional tie-in to the Texas Chain Saw Massacre video game this past Friday on its weekly Rampage show. Wrestler Jeff Jarrett, known for winning matches by hitting his opponents in the head with a guitar, confirmed he'll be taking on fellow AEW star Jeff Hardy in a Texas Chain Saw Massacre Death Match. The match will take place on AEW Dynamite this Wednesday at 8:00 PM ET.

The full extent of the promotional partnership between AEW and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre isn't clear, but Jarrett did tease some plans during his announcement video. To start, the match will be held with Death Match rules, which means anything goes. These matches are typically quite brutal, and potentially bloody, which could be exactly what The Texas Chain Saw Massacre wants to see. Jarrett also teased that Leatherface could make an appearance, though whether he shows up to support Jarrett or Hardy remains to be seen.

AEW is no stranger to promotional tie-ins at this point. The wrestling promotion has done live advertisements for Discovery's Shark Week, the Godzilla vs. Kong film, and even the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon. They don't usually lead to in-ring silliness like WWE's The Walking Dead zombies wandering ringside, but do often come with some fun surprises.

As for why The Texas Chain Saw Massacre chose AEW for a big advertising push, it appears that Gun Interactive simply believes AEW fans might like its game. AEW's audience trends more mature and action-loving than WWE's kid-friendly wrestling content. That seems appropriate for the kind of game players The Texas Chain Saw Massacre is trying to draw in. Fans can see for themselves Wednesday on AEW Dynamite at 8:00 PM ET.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre releases August 18 on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
