The Texas Chain Saw Massacre has a variety of ways for players who are controlling the Victims to escape from the Slaughter Family on several different maps. Although none of those ways to 'escape' involve outright murdering the Family, there is a mechanic that allows for the Victims to get a stab on one of the Family members.

Stealth attacks are the way to go about this. They are primarily used when players need to escape a constricted area plagued by one of the Family members. There is only one way to perform a stealth attack on the Family, but it is very easy to do once players find bone scrap.

Where To Find Bone Scrap

Julie finding bone scrap

To perform a stealth attack in The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Victims will first need to acquire bone scrap. Bone scrap is collected from small heaps of human bones that are randomly found throughout one of the maps. When a Victim has located one, looking straight at it will give players the option to collect scrap.

Pressing the interact button will pull up a minigame in which players have to fill up a bar in order to obtain a shard of sharp bone. To fill up this bar, simply mash (or hold) the interact button during the minigame. Victims be warned though, as completing this minigame too fast will alert the killers and Grandpa due to the amount of noise they are making. After the activity is finished, players will be able to find bone scrap in their equipment on the left side of their screen.

What Does A Stealth Attack Do?

When players can successfully pull off a sneak attack on one of the several opposing Family members, they will notice that the killer is unable to move. Sneak attacking one of the killers essentially stuns them for a short time.

Once a killer has been stabbed in the back, the Victims will want to run, hide, or escape the map as soon as possible. If players wait around too long, the killer will escape their stunned state and attempt to murder the Victims. If players want to capitalize on the stealth attack mechanic, Leland is the best victim to create a build around.

How To Sneak Attack The Killers

Once bone scrap is acquired, players can equip it onto their character by switching to the bone scrap icon in their equipment. Doing so will cause the Victim character to hold the bone scrap in their hand, which looks reminiscent of a shiv. Now, as Texas Chain Saw Massacre demands, players will need to stealthily walk around and focus on completing their tasks to escape. Hunting down the Family will inevitably end in a loss, since Victims are unable to kill any Family members.

But, if Victims are caught hiding in an area that has no other way out other than through a killer, players can stealth attack them. To stealth attack a killer, creep up behind an unsuspecting member of the Slaughter family. Once they're close enough, an option to perform a stealth attack with the interact button will appear. Clicking the interact button will then show a very short animation of the Victim character stabbing the Family member in the back with their scrap of bone.

Sneak attacks are performed when facing the Family member's back no matter what, meaning that if players are quick enough, they can perform a sneak attack while 'looping' around the Slaughter Family killer.
