Players who are eager to play Leatherface in Texas Chain Saw Massacre will be pleased to find that there is a place for them in most family teams. Leatherface is the only character, victim or family, required to be in every game. So having a good build for him as a family member is just about mandatory.

He's also the most straightforward family member in Texas Chain Saw Massacre to play. He's responsible for doing damage while other family members feed Grandpa and set traps. Gamers should feel this accountability while playing Leatherface and get their kill count sky-high with the best build.

Skill Tree

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Leatherface Skill Tree

When gamers first unlock skills and loadouts, they should be able to get every base skill that makes Leatherface incredible by going left on three consecutive branches. This nets two critical perks, Tracker Tagged, and Big Swings.

On one of the random skill nodes, players will also want to pick up Vial-ent. If players complete the tree without it, simply respec and try again until getting this to unlock. Thankfully, there is no cost to a respec, so try again until getting all three ideal perks.

Perks

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Leatherface Perks
  • Vial-ent
  • Big Swings
  • Tracker Tagged
  • Grandpa Ability - Brute Strength

Three of these perks, Vial-ent, Big Swings, and Brute Strength all increase Leatherface's damage. As a clunky and loud family member, Leatherface will usually only get a quick burst of damage in. With these perks, this is all he needs, even against the best victims.

Tracker Tagged is a great team skill, though. The best Ana build will be able to tank a bunch of hits before running away. Since Leatherface is bulky, he won't be able to pursue these targets. With Tracker Tagged, these escapees will be marked for other more agile family members to attack.

Attributes

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Increasing Leatherface's Savagery
  • Savagery: +10
  • Endurance: +15
  • Blood Harvesting: +5

Leatherface's attributes require very little explanation. The only reason for him to gather blood at all is to get the damage bonus from Vial-ent. Then, don't feed it to Grandpa, just hold onto it. Let other great family members take care of the actual feeding.

This means Leatherface gets to maximize his Savagery and Endurance without any guilt. With topped-off damage and pursuit facets, gamers are free to play Leatherface as he is designed to be played. Unless the victim is a tank, they're not going to survive even just a second or two of combat.

Ability Modifiers

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Leatherface Ability Modifiers
  • Level One: Overheat Reduction
  • Level Two: Overheat Reduction
  • Level Three: Instant Activation

Since Leatherface is best at doing burst damage, the goal with Maim needs to reflect this. The Reduce Chainsaw Overheat modifiers can be safely ignored since those will only come into use during prolonged fights. Get two levels of Overheat Reduction so that the time between these bursts is as quick as possible.

The finishing touch is Instant Activation which should be about mandatory for this build. Leatherface can't afford to be slowing down and revving up his chainsaw. Being able to instantly get Maim activated before attacking will result in most victims dying after just a few swings. When playing with friends, expect to lead the damage and kill scoreboards with this build.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
