In a game about hunting down victims, Johnny embodies the family values in Texas Chain Saw Massacre. He's the primary tracker with his Hunt ability and can sniff out victims even when they aren't making sounds. While other characters rely on sounds, Johnny can see footprints and clues to pinpoint hidden targets.

Nobody is safe when Johnny is on the map. A victim without Johnny can confidently hide until the coast is clear. But if Johnny is using the right build, he puts a hard time limit on the victims in Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It's only a matter of time until Johnny tracks everyone down and this is often before even one victim can escape.

Skill Tree

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Johnny Skill Tree

Johnny has the capacity to be among the best family members if he takes a particular path on his skill tree. At the branches, head left, then right, then take the next two lefts, and finally a right turn. By following this path, players can get all four perks that are key to this build.

There are also 28 attribute points to pick up by following this path. Johnny isn't naturally as deadly as an ideal Leatherface build but he can achieve that same level of damage if he picks up these points. Since he's more agile than Leatherface, this can potentially make him just as deadly.

Perks

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Johnny Perks
  • Feral
  • Warmed Up
  • Patience
  • Grandpa Ability - Brute Strength

With the Feral perk, raw attributes might not be exciting but it will allow Johnny to maximize Savagery and almost Endurance in the long run. That's a big deal as he will then start hitting as hard as any other character. Even the best victims won't survive more than a few knife slices.

Warmed Up is big for Johnny. If something happens and the victim survives getting slashed up by Johnny, such as might happen with the best Ana build, Johnny will immediately be able to use his Hunt ability and track down the victim before they get away for good.

Attributes

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Increasing Johnny's Savagery
  • Savagery: +10
  • Endurance: +18

Between the leveled-up Feral perk and ten attribute points, Johnny will get his Savagery attribute at the maximum level. Hitting as hard as any other character, Johnny then becomes one of the best hunters in the game, right next to the best Cook build.

Endurance will be almost maximized as well. If Johnny spots some fresh footprints, this is critical. He'll want the stamina to run after an escaping victim instead of slowly creeping up on them. The faster Johnny tracks these victims down, the worse the odds are for the remaining survivors.

Ability Modifiers

Texas Chain Saw Massacre Best Johnny Ability Modifiers
  • Level 1: Quicker Recharge
  • Level 2: Quicker Recharge
  • Level 3: Increase Trail Range

Johnny should spend as much time as possible using his Hunt ability. If he's running around guessing, he's no better than the rest of the team. By sticking to the left side for the first two levels, Johnny gets the Quicker Recharge modifiers that allow him to regularly use Hunt.

Increase Trail Range at level three doubles the length of the footprint range. This is huge as it doubles the odds that Johnny catches the whiff of a victim. So long as Johnny is using this build, he should be killing at least a couple of victims in every match.

Texas Chain Saw Massacre is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
