For some, Minecraft is the best open-world, sandbox crafting game around. But for others, it can lack a little something. Terraria provides that something in the form of 2D Metroidvania elements. If the player can find, craft, or use the right items/moves, they can further explore the world of Terraria, get better gear, and face off against new, more challenging bosses.

Whether it’s pre-game, for special events, or in the post-game Hard Mode, the bosses can give players a run for their money. The fleshier ones can look freaky, while the mechanical ones can be hard to crack. However, with the right armor, players will be able to tank these mechanical menaces and make them pay with interest.

6 Frost

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Frost

Frost Armor is only available in the Hardmode and isn’t the tip-top best for mechanical bosses. But, if the player is in a pinch, it’ll still hold up a fair deal as it takes 46 Adamantite or Titanium bars combined with 3 Frost Cores to make a full set. The latter of which only drops from defeating Ice Golems.

Its big bonus was that it could inflict Frostbite and Frostburn debuffs on foes, which doesn’t really work on Mechanical bosses. However, it still adds +43 to Defense, increases melee and ranged damage by 26%, increases the chances of inflicting critical strikes by 11%, and speeds the player up in movement and melee by 8% and 11% respectively.

5 Palladium

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Palladium

Palladium is also available in Hardmode and is quite versatile. It comes with three different helmets that buff magic (Headgear), melee (Mask) or ranged attacks (Helmet) depending on the player’s preference in gameplay. It also provides a 5-second Rapid Healing buff that goes into effect with each attack, and triggers against nearly all enemies, including the training dummy.

The Rapid Healing can make it a boon in the early going of Hard Mode and makes up for its otherwise low defense (21 with Headgear, 23 with Helmet, 32 with Mask). It’s arguably better at keeping the player alive than the almighty Adamantite Armor. Provided they can collect the 78 Palladium bars or 234 Palladium Ores to create the full set.

4 Orichalcum

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Orichalcum

Orichalcum armor also offers the same different headwear options as Palladium, complete with the same buffs to magic, melee or ranged combat. It also speeds the player up like the Frost Armor by 8% in movement and 11% in melee, while increasing the chance of critical strikes by 6%. The defense is sturdy too, at 21% for Headgear, 30% for Helmet, and 42% for the Mask.

It also gives players the ability to summon flower petals that can pass through blocks and liquids, pierce multiple foes, and inflict 36% damage each time. This makes it a good set to consider if players use weapons with high fire-rates like assault rifles. Making all 5 pieces will take 78 Orichalcum bars or 312 Orichalcum ores.

3 Mythril

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Mythril

Mythril is the alternative to Orichalcum and is arguably a step ahead of more favored armor sets like Adamantite. Though its big downside in that department is its defense, with the magic-favoring Hood only offering 24%, the pro-ranged attack Hat providing 27%, and the melee-boosting Helmet 37%. However, it has some very strong offensive buffs to make up for that.

The Hood will reduce Mana usage by 17%, and the Helmet increases the chances of inflicting critical damage by 10%. Then the Hat will discount ranged ammo by 20%. They stack quite well with the Greaves’ additional 10% critical strike buff and the chainmail’s 7% strength boost. No special attacks or gimmicks required. Just 65 Mythril Bars or 260 Mythril Ores to make the full set.

2 Titanium

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Titanium

That said, if anyone checks online for the best anti-Mechanical boss armor, they’ll find two options. The Titanium Armor is the second best of the two and has the same headwear options as the prior armors. The Headgear and Helmet offer the best stats at 16% magic/ranged damage and 7% critical strikes, while the Mask provides the set’s highest overall defense stat at 49%.

It also comes with an excellent buff that differs depending on the platform. In older versions of the game on 3DS and consoles it would make the player immune after each successful attack. The newer ports replaced this with a titanium shard barrier that tears through foes and racks up the damage quickly. Making the full set requires 85 Titanium Bars or 340 Titanium Ores (or 425 for those with older systems).

1 Adamantite

Terraria Mechanical Boss Armor- Adamantite

Adamantite is the set most favored by players and offers different bonuses depending on the headwear options. The Headgear set reduces mana usage by 19%, making it easier to cast multiple magic attacks. While the Mask increases the chance of the player not consuming ammo for ranged attacks by 25%. But it’s the melee players who luck out with the Helmet’s 20% movement and melee speed buff and 50% increased defense.

Magical and ranged players will be more torn between Adamantite and Titanium, as the latter has advantages over the former for them. But as far as melee players go, the Adamantite set is the best in the game for overall buffs and defense. Provided they can find 78 Adamantite Bars, or 312 Adamantite Ores.

Terraria is available for PC, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, iOS, Android, macOS, Linux, and 3DS.
