How To Find The Hemogoblin Shark

The Hemogoblin Shark is 1 of 5 enemies that can be spawn by fishing during a Blood Moon in Terraria. The odds of reeling in this walking shark are relatively low, so players may have to fish for a while to find one. Furthermore, there's no way to control which of the special Blood Moon fishing enemies spawn, so it's possible that gamers may come face-to-face with another terror from the crimson tide before pulling up a Hemogoblin Shark.

The Hemogoblin Shark's Attacks

There are 2 kinds of attacks that this beast from below will use: melee ones and ranged ones. The melee attacks take the form of aggressive leaps and lunges, depending on where the Hemogoblin Shark attacking. If the fiend is on land, it will charge relentlessly at the player, while, if it is submerged in liquid, it will leap up to attack the player in brutal breaches.

The ranged attacks, referred to as "Blood Shots", will launch red projectiles at the player from a distance. This attack will only be used by the Hemogoblin Shark while it is on land but never from under the surface of any liquid. This is convenient, as it is the harder of the Hemogoblin Shark's attacks to dodge or block.

Best Strategies For Fighting The Hemogoblin Shark

Despite the monster's huge HP stat and considerable Defense, there are a few methods that can allow players to take the Hemogoblin Shark down with few issues. Firstly, since it is 4 tiles tall, it cannot enter regular doorways despite trying to do so with great vigor. This means that the foe will become trapped in a doorway, and, since it lacks the ability to break such structures, players can relatively easily take them out as long as one is careful of the Blood Shot attacks.

Alternatively, if one does not want to deal with the Hemogoblin Shark's ranged attacks at all, players can simply make it so that the shark cannot attack from land. This can be done by building a line of Platforms across the body of water that one will be fishing the fiend out of during a Blood Moon. When the Hemogoblin Shark spawns, they will repeatedly lunge up at the player from the water, however, since it cannot properly stay on the Platforms, it will slip back into the water below after each breach. This will cause the monsters to only use melee attacks that will be easy to dodge and prevent them from using their ranged attacks.

It should also be mentioned that, even though the Hemogoblin Shark is immune to lava, it can still be affected by the "On Fire!" debuff, which can be inflicted with a large number of fire-based items such as Flaming Arrows, Molotov Cocktails, and Flares as well as many weapons.

Terraria is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, iOS, Android, Windows Phone, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, macOS, Linux, Nintendo 3DS, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and Google Stadia.
