Temtem has officially released its 1.2 update. This update is pretty significant and brings a lot of features that players have been waiting for developer Crema to add to Temtem.

The monster-catching MMO released in early access in 2020, and garnered quite a bit of attention given the game's similarities to Pokemon. One of the key differences is that Temtem allows players to interact with each other—similarly to other MMOs—and players can even play through the story in co-op mode with each other. The game was in early access for over two years, and Temtem fully launched with many new features in September 2022.

Patch 1.2 released on December 5 and actually combined the updates of both Patch 1.1 and Patch 1.2 into a single package. The update added a host of new features, including a new medieval-themed Tamer Pass, some in-depth changes to competitive rankings, a new PvP feature called Temtem Showdown, in-game events, colorblind accessibility options, and several quality-of-life changes and bug fixes. Since Patch 1.1 got combined with 1.2, this is the first major update since Temtem reached its full release.

One of the biggest new features that released in this update is Temtem Showdown. Like Pokemon, player-versus-player content is a big part of Temtem. However, the accessibility of putting together a competitive team, in terms of both time and in-game currency, was a significant factor gatekeeping players from the competitive ranked ladder. Temtem's breeding and egg hatching system, for example, is a big part of competitive PvP, and requires a significant time investment.

Temtem Showdown helps break down that barrier by allowing players to create their PvP teams with no training required. It will also be accessible from the beginning of the game, and teams can now be shared and imported using unique codes. This really opens up competitive PvP for newer players or players who don't want to spend a lot of time grinding and tinkering with their PvP team to get the perfect stats. PvP hopefuls will still have to do some research into the Temtem type chart for advantages and disadvantages though.

Some players aren't very happy with the new update, saying that it doesn't deliver enough to keep them interested or bring them back to the game. Many others, however, are excited to dive into the new content and enjoy the more accessible gameplay.

Temtem is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
