TemTem is a Pokemon-like game that allows players to catch all sorts of cute new friends to battle with, fight against other tamers, battle against real players, and more. This game has plenty of similar structures to other monster-catching games like Pokeball, including like cards and evolution systems.

One of these monster hunting systems is called the Luma, which are the much rarer versions of the original TemTem. The Luma have been updated quite a bit with the new update 1.0, and TemTem players new and old will need to learn all about these updates in order to farm Luma.

What Are Luma in TemTem?

TemTem-06-1

TemTem is a creature-collecting game that is also an MMORPG. Players wander the world in search of new and unique TemTem to fill out their teams and battle other tamers. In TemTem, rarer versions of TemTem are called Luma. These are the equivalent of Shiny Pokemon or Shifted monsters from Monster Sanctuary.

Luma used to be extremely rare in TemTem, but the developers have changed many of the rules around these rare catches to make them more accessible to players. Now that update 1.0 is out, here are the rules that Luma follow in the game:

  • While in Early Access, Luma were incredibly rare, developers Crema have updated the catch rate from 1/10,000 to 1/7500.
  • The Safari-like Saipark on Deniz Islands alternate having special weeks with more Luma chances per encounter there.
  • Luma always have three perfect stats and at least 25 SVs in all other stats.
  • Players can buy Radar to help them find Luma more often.
  • Breeding two TemTem together has a base chance of 1/7500 to get a Luma, which is a massive improvement over previous odds. One Luma and one regular TemTem has a 1 in 750 chance to breed another Luma. Breeding two Luma has a 1 in 75 chance. Unfortunately, each TemTem is very limited by the fertility system, and each can only breed 8 or fewer times in total.

The Best Way to Farm Luma TemTem

Temtem, Valash

While there are plenty of ways to farm shinies in TemTem, players will most likely want to know the best ways of getting a Luma for themselves.

  • If players want to ensure that they will get a shiny in a certain amount of time, the best way is to purchase a shiny egg or a Luma from the auction house. It will cost a lot of Pansun in TemTem, but players will have a guaranteed shiny after a certain amount of time.
  • If players want a Luma with the least amount of effort, waiting for boosted encounters on Saipark on Deniz Islands is the best way to go about it. This way will mean a lot of waiting for the right TemTem to be the TemTem-of-the-week.
  • If players want the most consistent and cheapest way to grind for as many Luma as possible, Radar is the way to go.

How to Use Radar in TemTem

Temtem Update Cipanku Island

The recent launch update 1.0 of TemTem changed the Radar item to make it a little easier to use. Here are some of the things that have changed, and those that have not:

  • Radar can now be purchased for feathers in Tamer's Paradise.
  • Dojo Rematches no longer give Radar.
  • Radar comes in varieties, and the right Radar must be purchased for the corresponding TemTem. For example, a fire radar must be used to catch Fire-type TemTem.
  • Radar must be used in a TemTem's natural habitat to work.
  • Radar no longer have an expiration time and will continue to be active until they are broken or replaced by a new Radar type.
  • Encounters have been reduced from 400 to 300.
  • Radar will not summon evolved forms anymore.
  • All Tems now have the same 100% spawn rate.

In TemTem, Radar work by causing the chosen type to spawn in the overworld. Players must keep encountering, then winning, against the TemTem. Players must keep the chain going until the Luma appears. There are several ways players can break the chain and lose their Radar:

  • Running away from a Radar encounter.
  • Not running from a non-Radar encounter of a different evolutionary line.
  • The player's TemTem are all dead, and they pass out.

TemTem is now available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
