When asked, Telltale Games' official Twitter account wouldn't confirm whether The Wolf Among Us 2 or The Expanse would release first, though both are slated to release in 2023. Since Telltale Games was reformed more or less, fans have been excited to see how the current studio tackles the episodic adventures the company is known for. Its return came alongside the announcement of The Wolf Among Us 2, with this taking place back at The Game Awards in 2019.

Another Telltale Games project, The Expanse, was announced in 2021. The Wolf Among Us 2 continues Bigby Wolf's story in the land of Fabletown, while The Expanse takes place in the titular universe aboard the ship, Artemis, as XO Camina Drummer. Both titles have a lot of hype around them, and should they both release next year, it could be a good return to form for Telltale Games.

Many may assume that The Wolf Among Us 2 releases first since it was announced first, but that's not always the way it works in the gaming industry. So, when the Telltale Games Twitter account says it can't confirm which will release first (but remains adamant they both release in 2023), this is an understandable statement. It's no real cause for concern. What's good, however, is just before, the Telltale account said that it intends to let the "devs, dev" and wants to avoid building too much hype too soon.

Given some companies' recent trend of announcing games far too early, this is a breath of fresh air. For example, Bethesda's Todd Howard recently said Fallout 5 would be the next game after The Elder Scrolls 6, but the latter is nowhere near release and the company's next game, Starfield, has yet to even release. Knowing Fallout has a future is good, but knowing that it's a decade away isn't really helpful.

While fans still need to wait on The Wolf Among Us 2 and The Expanse, most trailers and development reveals have been mostly positive. In the case of The Wolf Among Us 2, fans know the reformed Telltale Games is using none of the material set up before the previous Telltale's closure, and that every episode of The Wolf Among Us 2 is being developed simultaneously. While the episodic structure shouldn't go anywhere, having every episode available on day one should go a long way in bringing fans back (while hopefully attracting some newcomers too).

The Wolf Among Us 2 and The Expanse are in development.
